Maybe it's just me , but I thought the new springs were to be 4 leaf ????

Also - did you provide the AAL ???

    Just Curious

Probably have the only 2nd Gen with an 8274 in the world.
Call the number on the letter and ask them. I called today, the lady told me they were accepting reimbursement claims, about 4 weeks to process and approve OR deny. I'm tired of waiting, too, and more tired of riding ass-low. Making a move mañana.

I called my local Toyota dealership today to complain about how long the recall is taking. Told them my leaf springs are shot and couldn't wait till 2016 for a fix. Service guy tells me there is nothing he can do until 2016 when the new leaf springs arrive. I then called Toyota Corporate and complained. Corporate told me they would authorize my local dealership to replace my leaf springs now, then in 2016 I would also receive the new springs when available. I'll keep you guys posted on how things pan out.

NTSB should crack down on Toyota, It is a safety issue. Put a time limit on them. My wife has a Honda and it is sad to say they are on top of their recalls.

Right after they deal with fiat/chrysler and their under reporting to NHTSA of deaths and injuries that they could be responsible for.

You should get the improved ones in 2016. Any springs installed in 2015 are just a band aid approach as they are the old springs that have been recalled. It takes time for them to wear out or break, so you should be okay till then.

Pipe front bumper. My trucks have work to do.
Like many here who have followed this thread from the beginning, my 2007 Tacoma PreRunner was bottoming out on the rear rubber stops every day when this recall was first issued. The OP is in an excellent position to really know what has been going on all this time. Can only hope that someone from Toyota corporation would take note of our collective displeasure with the rear leaf spring design error. The repeatedly stated displeasure with Toyota on the way they have handled the engineering error, the deficient leaf springs, and the replacement process should be an obvious indicator of the vanishing Toyota brand loyalty of hundreds of thousands of buyers. For me, it is this blatant sacrifice of brand loyalty and disregard of regular people's need for a working vehicle that does what it was advertised to do which concerns me most.

I will never buy another Toyota of any kind. If Toyota as a company is OK with telling us that they don't care enough about what they build to promptly fix it, then I am OK with telling each and everyone I know or encounter precisely what has transpired with their incredibly disrespectful handling of this recall. Any of you "happy cat" Tacoma lovers out there must not have walked the path we have.

OK, I've had enough. The last recall notice did it for me. It's clear to me that these SOBs aren't going to do squat for any of us for as long as they can possibly avoid it. They understand that time is money, and if they can put this off another six months or so it will pay for what the repairs are going to cost them, in profit and in interest and in people who get fed up and trade in their trucks and "let someone else worry about it." (I'm not criticizing that choice: I have thought of it myself--but my wife says we can't afford it.) The thing is, I'm a consumer lawyer and a trial lawyer, and I absolutely refuse to take this crap. I have some skills in this area. I'm hoping that I can figure out the right place(s) to apply pressure to get their thumbs out of their orifices.

To be clear: I'm not looking for clients, and I'm not looking to represent anyone in a law suit or a class action. For professional reasons I can't represent anybody else until after January anyway. But I can certainly represent myself; and in doing so, maybe I can do the rest of you some good too. But ... to beat these B.s, we're going to have to be smart and share what we all know. As long as we're all a bunch of separate little voices, they can ignore us. If we work together, we might be able to move them.

If you're willing to share some intelligence: I would be very curious to know what your experiences are if you have called, e-mailed or written Toyota and gotten any kind of response. You can e-mail me if you don't want to share this info publicly on this site (bubba-dot-bein-at-gmail dot com). If you know anyone not on this list serve who's had experience, I'd like to hear from them, too. You can feel free to pass that e-mail along. I make this promise to you: my only agenda is to get them to fix this problem, not to make any money at this, or to create business, or any other pecuniary reason. I will share what I learn with everyone here, even if some of the information from owners must be anonymous. (And, I'm sorry, but I need to remain anonymous until after January. I can explain then.)

In the event you believe that Toyota deserves to be left alone to handle this in their own way, I respect your view, but ask that you not waste my time with that argument. I don't mind having the debate--free market theory is one of my favorite things to discuss and I'm just starting to write a law review article on the market for a different product--but I'd like to concentrate on solving this problem, not discussing how many angels can dance on the head of a defective leaf spring. After we all get our new leaf springs, I'm willing to take on all comers on an argument on neo-classical economic theory.

PS: By the way, if you know any federal Senators or Congresspeople, please let me know. I know a couple personally, and they might take 1 1/2 seconds to listen. The way this works is to get a bunch of them asking questions ... but again, single voices aren't going to have any effect.
