You missed MY point. No offense to @rstuart, but your truck is 10 years old, you are way out of warranty, and your suspension sounds like its on its last legs if a couple kids in the back seat is exceeding the payload. Toyota has zero responsibility at that point to fix anything, because nothing is broken. The most they have to do right now is put an extra clamp on the drivers side leaf spring, on the off chance a leaf does snap and tries to aim gor the fuel tank. Thats like me trying to go after ford because my 68 mustang blew a shock.

Or, if you received a recall letter, and youre still on your complete oem suspension, once Toyota figures out what they are going to do, you get to have that done. I really don't see all new leaf packs for thousands of Tacomas, due to the possibility of a broken leaf puncturing the tank. I see a new clamp in place and a pat on the head

if it was just a clamp, i don't think they would need a whole fucking year to do something about this. Bubba is probably correct in that they're planning on waiting everyone out and only change these as they break, which is total BS. At this point probably best to call the NTSB instead of wasting time calling Toyota.

I think the Tacoma is best as a lease option. Trade it in after 2 years when everything starts going south. Then Toyota just recycles them after 10 years.

No offense here, I did receive 3 letters stating that my truck was indeed on the recall.

Ah, i didnt see that before. Well, fingers crossed that theu actually replace your leafs. But whatever dude was talking about before, getting a mechanic to call them unsafe, basically trying to strong arm Toyota into a new set of leafs, I highly doubt that would work. Toyota would just turn around and have their certified mechanics check the leafs as well and say theyre fine just worn down and say its on you. I'm not trolling here or being a dick, I'm just being a realist after going a couple rounds with Toyota over TSBs and getting stuff replaced. If you are out of warranty, They will do the least amount of anything they possibly can, and if you still have warranty left, they will still try to avoid fixing stuff

Roads in Mexico have lots of pot holes and the "speed bumps" are wicked so hopefully they've learned how to make springs.

No problem,If people want a truck with car-like ride by a Honda Ridgeline, but leave Toyota alone . I guess they need to appeal to the masses. I am off my soapbox now , Have a good one.

Current spring performance will not be considered in this.Only if something were to happen, how best to protect the fuel tank.Toyota cheated at the load rating thinking most would never put much in them and want a comfortable ride, they were wrong.

I just received a new spring set with my new frame compliments of Toyota.
I will be getting a new set of springs when they complete enough sets of the improved springs next year.
