I can't really speak to that just yet. I only drove it the less than 5 mile trip back to my house.

 

You can see there are some extra clips than the previous set, plus it's a 4 leaf pack, vice 3.

 

I'm assuming since you had the 3 pack before and now the 4 pack. Is there a difference in height now?

 

It definitely sits higher, but I couldn't tell you how much because I didn't measure before hand. I also had some spacers slapped on the front that I've been waiting until the recall to have done.

That's one of the reasons I haven't put anything up front. What size spacer did you put on a 2" lift?

 

Just had mine done today by a good friend of mine that works at the dealer. Didnt have any in stock but he hooked me up and took a spring set from a frame replacement pack. 4 leaf pack, extra clips for when they do break it doesn't puncture the tank or come loose. Includes all new hardware.

It actually put the front slightly higher, but it's barely noticeable with the naked eye. I honestly didn't realize it until I measured.

 

Has anyone in the phase 3 areas received their remedy letter yet? It says early march 2016. getting past the early march time and still no letter.

ONCE AGAIN: What's the 3rd party fix for these springs? I want to price it but don't know what I'm looking for.

 

What options do I have. I cut my clips to install an AAL. Do I remove the AAL and put the spring pack together without clips to do the recall?

I plan to put my AAL back on the new springs after doing the recall.

 

I'm in a similar situation. Although I didn't cut any clips, I've got an add-a-leaf and air bags that will need to be removed to install the new leafs. If I've got to remove them before they swap the leafs out, it would be good to know in advance.

I think the sheet said Virginia is supposed to get the recall in March but I haven't seen any letter yet.

 

I took my truck in last week for the Frame Rust recall. While there the service writer advised me about the recall for the springs. (I did not know the recall was out yet for our area, sure enough when I got home I found it in the mail) I am scheduled for a new frame in 4-5 months but they offered to go ahead and replace the springs now. They kept it overnight. The next day Mike, the service writer, called to tell me that they did not have the right spring for my truck in stock.... since I had the Harsh Ride TSB done in 2008 he said putting the standard replacement new springs on would take me back to where I was before the TSB. He said Toyota doesn't stock dealerships with the stiffer/harder springs to do recall work on trucks that had the TSB done previously because relatively few trucks had the TSB done. They are still covered by the recall, he just has to have the proper ones shipped from Toyota. Said it would be about a week. We talked about just waiting and doing it when the frame replacement happens. I may just wait.

 

I never received my "fix" letter, instead my dealer called last week and asked if I wanted to schedule to which I replied "Hell yes!" I should have been in the Early Feb/March recall stage for NY.

I got the springs replaced this morning, only took about 1.5 hours start to finish. Truck rides much better, my truck never had the TSB springs because I was outside the factory warranty, so my '07 springs had about a 1/2 inch gap developing between the leaf and half way to the shackle. Raised the truck about an inch in the rear, 21.5" pre-install and 22.5" after, almost unnoticeable by looks. The truck feels much less "squirrelly" on the highway. My faith in the brand is slightly restored.

I caught a glimpse of the internal invoice for the install, ~$970 for the leaf kit, ~$250 for install and alignment, and $150 for a fitment kit (U-bolts??). Those are are approximate it was a quick look. So around $1370 if you walked in and wanted new springs on your own dime.

 

Well after getting numerous letters from Toyota regarding the leaf spring recall, I finally got a letter yesterday stating that the 'remedy' is ready and that they are going to replace the leaf springs. I must have gotten 3 or 4 letters prior stating that they were working a remedy.
The letter says to bring it in to the dealer for a zero cost repair.
