I my opinion it's more the change in "Height" of the rear. If your alignment was last done with flat springs - the new springs add lift. This causes the Caster to change - and perhaps the weight shift from the rear lift may cause camber changes?? I am surprised that they do not do an alignment - if for no reason other than a chance to sell you front end parts ......

We're talking about the rear axle not being square to the front perfectly from leafs being replaced and when they tightened it all up is wasn't perfectly square to front anymore. You can pull back on one side and push forward on the other side of the rear axle before tightening u-bolts to change the toe microscopically to get back square with front. You can tell which side needs to move which direction based on the rr toe numbers on alignment sheet.

You guys think the dealership should be responsible for an alignment?

I feel your pain. My "inspection" appointment is Wednesday. What nonsense. The kicker is, the bimbo on the phone tells me it may take two hours. This is by far the lamest recall on a vehicle that I have ever seen.

I have been away for the forum for a while and lost track.
Where is the current VIN list at this point?

(2012 base 2.7 auto, leaf springs could be better looking.. don't like them)

    Yes
They're just gonna say it was like that when you brought it in or that it is normal for it to act unaligned or that just changing leafs can't affect alignment but sure, yeah, give it a shot..........

Alright, a little update.. I just got back from the dealer and was told that my truck definitely qualifies for the recall as my truck has the 2+1 leaf pack with the 3 clips.. Unfortunately, like @b.prall , they have to order the parts still, which can take 1-2weeks until they arrive.. :annoyed: The service advisor was actually a classmate of mines from high school, and I joked with him about telling toyota that my leafs are cracked so they can expedite the shipping on the parts.. He said they actually had a customer come in late last week with a broken leaf, but because the parts can take 1-2 weeks to get here, they gave him a loaner car.. Oh well, it was worth a try.. haha..

Ah yeah.. The service advisor told me the same exact thing when I came in this morning.. I told him, "seriously?? 1.5-2hrs to crawl underneath to see if my truck has the 3 clips or not? It took me 5 seconds to look underneath and determined that my truck is definitely part of the recall.." we just laughed about it and he pulled the truck in and came back out after 10mins and told me that they will order the parts.. I guess I lucked out on that part since the advisor was an old classmate from highschool..

I looked at mine this wknd and they have 2 clips in front of axle and 2 clips behind the axle so this recall will probably be skipped since I already have 3+1 packs off a 2015 with 5k when I got them.

Well, @projektzbora, I just had to drop my truck off due to having one of the leafs in the spring pack snap on me this weekend, dealer gave me a loaded 2016 TRD offroad as a loaner till my truck gets fixed

Nice. Thanks. That would be great. I'm actually getting a loaner from the dealer. So we'll see. May 9th it's getting done.

I have only skimmed through the last few pages of the post so forgive me if this has been mentioned, but has anyone gone in for the inspection that has blocks installed? I have 1" blocks and I really dont want to have to take them out just to take the truck to the dealer but I also dont want them to deny me the recall because of them.

When I was turned down for my AAL, I was told that blocks would have been fine.

I received the repair recall in the mail, made an appointment for "yesterday" to have it done, no inspection required, called to make sure all the parts were in, I had a couple of other recalls to take care of, as I stated I questioned them as to having the parts!!, they assured me they did, Well you guessed it, No parts, they did the other recalls, (not even sure what they were) but it took about 3hrs, I asked about alignment, they said that would not be included, I argued a little but I understand it won't make any difference, I am not a mechanic but I would think an alignment would be in order after a leaf spring exchange, if I am wrong please correct me! (anyone who has had this done by someone other than Toyota care to comment??) After this experience I may not have this done by Toyota, I just paid for an alignment and do not want to pay for another. I may send a letter to Toyota Corp. explaining my reasons & have it performed by a private party, if I have to eat the cost so be it, I really enjoy my Tacoma, but Toyota & I may be parting ways. I have been treated much better at other dealerships. jmop

I am still waiting for the parts. Hopefully they can reinstall them. I am not sure if it is possible.

Secondary air filter removal, K&N drop in, Removed front mud flaps, Toyota all weather matts, skid plate, bug guard. Bilstein 5100's all around fronts set at 2.5", OME add a leaf, Goodyear Wrangler Authority 265/70/17, stubby 6.5" antenna, smoked tail lights, blacked out badges.
So I wrecked my 09 access cab base 4x4, and recently purchased a 2010 TRD Sport crew cab long bed. I got the leaf Spring tsb for my 09 and afterwards it sat noticeably higher. The dealer was actually cool enough to get the newest leaf packs installed before I came to look at the 2010. After looking at the threads here I've confirmed that the ride height with the new leaf pack on my vehicle hasnt changed. So unfortunately this time around I'm going to have to get an add a leaf to lift my back end a little. Truck rides really nice though.
