Just got a letter in the mail today stating that there is a safety recall for access cabs regarding front seat belts.

Here is the link to the toyota website where you can check your vin number and see if you qualify.

I got the same letter and it says they will only fix it for free if the seat belt parts are apart and rattling in the door. Apparently they are working on a mass fix like they did with the gas pedals and steering columns. I'm getting impatient about it for sure. GM and Ford guys always mention toyota recalls when disputing about which company builds better trucks....and i hate having all these little recalls that you have to fix to have a clear carfax...

I feel you. To get my dealership near me to do any recall or warranty is a pain. They make it seem like an inconvenience.

I love when i go to my dealership and they don't even know about the recall. I had questions about bluetooth for them to answer that they didn't know, i had a remote start system that they couldn't figure out. I figured the bluetooth out and found the wire that was making the remote start not function.

I love that they offer "premium service" at a premium price and often don't know what is going on with the products they sell.

    Still love my Toyota.

It's a simple fix you can do at home. Remove the access door trim panel and verify that the bolt holding the seat belt tensioner is tight. While your in there, you could remove the bolt and put some Loctite on it and re-install so that it will not loosen ever. No need to get all complicated about it. I checked mine a few weeks ago when I sprayed some fluid film inside the doors . My bolts were tight and I'm so glad that I did not waste my time going to a dealership for this.

Nice to see they are sending out letters.

I had some warranty work done 3 weeks ago and I was told about the seatbelt recall being in the final stages of approval.
I'll get mine done with my trans drain and fill.

I completely understand that all they need to do is but enough loctite to fix all the access cab trucks an i know i can do it myself but i want them to do it so my carfax is clear when i go to resell.

Remember the gas pedal sticking problem? I never had that problem because the first thing i add to a truck is weathertech floor liners. I still made the stealership cut and shave my gas pedal so it doesn't show on my carfax as never having been fixed.

Good to know they're sending out notices. I check on Toyota.com every so often, and noticed this one a couple weeks ago. I called the stealership and they said that as yet there was no planned remedy available, and that Toyota'd be in touch when/if my truck needed the fix.
Personally, I don't trust her much, seeing as she's the same genius that told me Toyota wasn't doing anything for frame warranties anymore and that I was SOL on my '99.
I talked to the Service Manager, who MADE her file a claim. Two weeks later Toyota cut me a check.

Good point. I got the same letter today even though I no longer own my Tacoma. Now if they would only fix the weak-ass belt retractor maybe they'd be getting somewhere.

Car Fax is useless. The only things that show up are what is reported and even then sometimes it is not right. I should know. I have 3 issues on my taco that should not be there.

I want them to do it so that if they break something, stain something, or make something in my door start rattling, it's on them to fix it, and not me.

Many people including myself don't care about a silly carfax report.
I own a 03 Civic that has hit 3 deer in the last 8 years and I guarantee it will never show up on a carfax report. Even if a missed recall would show up on your report, would anyone think twice about buying your truck? I would not even care

And they always seem to do at least one of the above. I always leave the dealership with an extra scratch or two on the finish.

If they gave me the parts I would prefer to do it myself as I would baby my truck. Wouldn't take a screw driver to the window trim to remove it like they did. But then it is your word against their word when you discover some nasty scratch, ding, or dent.

I only care because the one time i don't care, will bite me in the ass somehow. That is how i live life man.

If i didn't keep my carfax clean, some guy would capitalize on it and try to gouge me on price so it is better for me (in my own head) to just have it clean.

Major point to this thread being....i hope toyota gets their asses in gear and fixes this problem. A problem that occurred because they didn't put loctite on shit when they assembled it.

I pulled my door panel and checked/Loctited the bolts. There were no problems. I'd like to hear from you guys what Toyota dealerships say when they do the recall because this smells to me like a reason to get your truck in where they find a lot of other "serious" things that need to be done at your cost or at least they get you going back to the dealership.

I want to know what they consider "forceful repeated closing". Does that mean just normal shutting of the door or slamming it.

Or a fix for the squeaky clutch on the manual. And a fix for the obnoxious rattle that is also in my engine the is considered "normal"
