Yes, at the connection to the brake master cylinder. Sorry for any confusion!

I know we don’t all park where it’s noticible, but did you see drops or anything under your truck? Seems like that much fluid leaking may leave a trace behind? This isn’t to bash you for not seeing it, an actual question! Might’ve been slow enough to not see yet drain enough over a week still.

Fair question. My work parking garage is underground and not well lit, we also had a few wet days last week. However, I remember coming out of work one day one day and seeing a wet spot and chalking it up to the rain. After this happened, I have my suspicions it was brake fluid.

That makes sense. Some don’t pay attention or have valid reasons like you just stated. Mine hasn’t gone in yet and wanted to get some feed back.

Thank you sir. You are a scholar and a gentlemen!

Checked the Toyota Owners app also and there is no mention of a recall yet. I'll keep checking here and the app.

Just came back from Dealership after getting TSB 0058-18 Transmission Re-flash, Dealership stated that The Master Cylinder has a Recall. I am assuming its on all the 3rd Gens, Just wanted to let ya know if you you haven't been to dealership lately (Which I hate going unless I have to).
Dealership stated that has to order parts and will take a couple o hours to install.
    Hope this helps.
    Love this Truck!!

Its not on all of the 3rd gens, at least not yet. Only some. Those impacted can go to the toyota owners portal and see or enter their VIN in the recall webpage.

I understand, thank you for the help. I Believe that I remember the date of the TSB was July 2018. But have to look again at paperwork. Didn't know if it was for the latest 3rd Gen's or not.
    Thanks for your assistance.

Yes. This is for 18-19. Get it done. Whether it’s an issue or not. Just get it done. I have the issue right now and I have a 17. Luckily corporate is covering mine but I’m lucky.

It is a recall for a select number of VINs. You can check here: https://www.toyota.com/recall to find out if your truck is affected. My 18 delivered in June is not affected.

No symptoms as far as I know but they are being proactive to avoid future issues. I took delivery of my 18 in late December, got a phone call from my dealership about 2 weeks later, and an email about it from my sales guy, and had the new master installed a few days later...it took no time. I suspect it's a bit of a big deal for the affected trucks because they were very quick to get it dealt with

It first started with my brake pedal feeling different. Like usually I would only have to tap my brakes and I eventually was having to really press my pedal to the floor. So I thought it was just maybe rear brakes needing adjusted. Well that needed to be done. Did that. Felt a little better but didn’t last. Pedal still felt like nothing was there. Braking distance had to be increased and I thought ok maybe because I went from 33” to 35”. Then I was like no way. This is crazy. My cousin looked at it. He was like no it seems like it’s more like the master cylinder. That next day I actually drove it to work and in my way home my brakes went out. Pedal went to floor board with nothing behind it. You could use your hand and push the pedal down with one finger and have no problem whatsoever. This is something that happens over time. That’s why I say just because you don’t have the symptoms now get it done because over time you probably will. It’s like $5k to fix. So not cheap.

    DANG!

Thanks for sharing. My ‘18 isn’t under the recall (yet?). I’ll keep an eye out for it. I drive like 3k - 3,500 miles per year TOPS so I may never see it if it takes some miles to show signs.

Wonder what the VIN range is... bad problem to have!

TT005...I would call dealership so they can order the master cylinder and then schedule an appointment. My dealership didn't have any in stock and they said would need to schedule and it would take 2 hours or so to install. Hope that helps.

Can the brake fluid be bled at the master cylinder or do the wheels have to be removed to bleed the air out?
i received the recall notice in the mail today. Called Toyota dealer. They said they do not keep master cylinders
in stock. Will order the master cylinder and call me when it arrives to schedule a service appointment.

went for the blackout package this time
how did the issue show itself? I have a 17 and it has starting making a noise just after it starts, that comes from around the brake controller area... I did not receive any notice of a recall though
