Were you the one that ended up buying those 5.29 arb diff's from the guy on ttora or did it go to someone else?

Word. I regret not jumping on it when I first saw it months ago. Also not sure how I never subbed to your build, your video helped me a ton when I did my timing belt.

Thank you. Those videos double the time it takes to do the regular work. It's hard for me to justify making them. I'm glad you got something useful out of it.

Are you running stock UCAs with your coilovers? if so, any issues there? BTW thanks for the awesome thread on TTORA. It was my bible when I started entertaining the idea for a swap and when I finally decided to do it I referenced it religiously. haha I still need to to the ECU swap but so far it drives well. It is like a completely different truck.

Thanks Fiziks. I continue to receive emails and messages about it daily. I was lucky to have a team of members colaborate to create that thread. I ran my coilovers with stock control arms before and never really had any issues. I currently have old school Donahoe adjustable aluminum control arms. Donahoe was what Icon was named long ago.

    Dang you are the man.

Someone mentioned way earlier in the post about the guy over at TTORA who swapped bodys.

    Extra cab V6 5speed 4X4 and Double cab V6 Auto 4X4.

Can you use any year extra cab 96-04? The main problem I have around here is finding a rust-free truck to start with.

In your opinion would this be the best path to a double cab 5 speed truck?

Depending on the tools you have, the swaps are both be manageable. I don't have a lift or a lot of friends to help me lift a cab. I feel the transmission swap is much more documented. I would start with the cleanest platform you can get. Then go from there.

The double cab and extra cab use different length beds.

Doesn't the frame need to be longer for this?

Wow, it has been a long time since I updated this. Bought an Allpro Expo rack, and moved the tent to the rear. Easy install. Took off my fenders to paint them.
    20160731_203111.jpg
    Here is what I did:
    • 220 grit
    • 400 grit
    • 800 grit wet
    • Rustoleum primer
    • 400 grit wet sand
    • 800 grit wet sand
    • Rustoleum bumper paint
    • 400 grit wet
    • 800 grit wet
    • Another coat of Rustoleum.
    20160827_192659.jpg
Fenders finished up. Now I need to do the hood.
