I did the Dakars and 2.5in of lift. also did the OME shocks. Ride is better than stock and they also eliminated most of the inherent axle wrap associated with the factory springs. My stock springs had an aal in them and that just ruined the main leafs faster. My suggestion go with a full spring pack. AAL's are horrible. Picked up my springs from Safari LTD. here in Grand Junction for $500 and that's with tax and bushings.

AAL is not going to fix your flat leaves but it will harshen the ride qaulity. They look flat but dont appear to be dangerous yet since they are not resting in a negative arch position like @AR15xAR10 leaf springs are in that photo. So I would wait and save up just a bit more and get new leaf packs altogehter and then the problem is fixed the first time around. Like @AR15xAR10 suggested the wheelers packs are worth the money and some are actually made by Alcan.. Good luck.

EDIT: Looks like ^^^ @Brent Waldman beat me to it

I will say the ride with the 3 leaf has been pretty good and I've had 800 lbs in the bed and not contacted bump stops during a 40 mile drive on the highway. Even with the 225 lb +/- shell, I still am an inch or inch and a half higher in the rear unloaded. The only time I'm unhappy is at night with additional load. That isn't exactly a frequent occurrence, but driving a few times that way so far I get flashed constantly. I'd considered Dakars but I can't piss my ride quality away and don't really need the benefits Dakars offer since my load carrying is sporadic.

I really recommend the Wheeler's 3 leaf, it's a nice addition if you don't need a full on leaf pack or the adjustability of Ride Rites. I wouldn't call it a Band-Aid by any means, maybe on a pair of abused leafs like @AR15xAR10 posted, or a pair with 100k on them already but on a 2015 it's an enhancement.

As far as going to the dealer, so far as I have seen as a constant response to similar issues is Toyota designs the leafs to lay flat, not arch - and this is normal, I wasn't happy with my hauling capability until I got the 3 leaf AAL installed and until the shell, have loved it. I still love it, just not in the 5% of my driving where I am hauling at night.

This was 750-800 lbs IIRC. No shell, stock Toyota 3 leaf (2+1 overload) pack and Wheeler's 3 leaf AAL.

I have been looking at the wheelers 3 leaf progressive AAL, and also the Icon 3 leaf progressive AAL. Seem very similar.

The angle of this pic isn't helping illustrate my point cleanly, but this is a similar load plus shell weight, same setup.

They're identical springs with identical rates, made by the same manufacturer.

It does, so I'd plan accordingly with your possible solutions. FWIW, I haven't touched bump stops since I installed the 3 leaf AAL, even with the above loads.

Also maybe the 3 leaf OME mini pack?

I ordered mine from Wheeler's Offroad through YotaDan here on TW, and he gave a me a bit of a price break. I paid $156 shipped to me, with new U bolts. I installed them myself (first time turning a wrench on my truck) in a few hours on a Saturday and added 5100 rear shocks as well.

For some kind of illustrative purpose, in the first pic I posted my 5100 fronts (with stock coils) were preloaded to .85, and in the second picture, they're at 1.75 (with stock coils).

I have a set of OME 884X coils in my garage, and am waiting on a Ride Rite setup to become available from another member here who's running it now on his truck and replacing it with a full leaf pack for his needs. I plan on leaving my leaf pack as is with the 3 leaf installed and adding the Ride Rites on top of that. I'm so pleased with the leaf setup that I don't want to alter it, just using the Ride Rites to level my heavy loads and keep my headlights pointed down.

I'm running Icon progressives, and have not really had any issues until recently. just added BAMF sliders which I think are close to 200lbs and went camping this weekend. with the new sliders, all my tools/camping gear and kayak I was definitely sagging at the rear. I'm considering Dakars, and wishing I'd gone that way to start off rather than wasting money on the Icons

Definitely not ideal when you start bolting on armor. You can see the fairly drastic increase in sag in my pictures, with the difference only being 225 +/- lbs.

10-4, with the sliders, and possibly a IFS skid in my future, I am leaning new leaf pack. I have been wanting to go up 2" all around and have been thinking 884 coils. (I am an access cab 4x4) Would 885's put it too high? So many decisions........:notsure:

Nice thing about the Dakars is you can get them to suit your load carrying style. I went with the standard packs. Nice and soft due to the fact I don't carry much unless I'm camping. They do offer a heaver pack for constant loads such as a topper, bumper etc. Just depends on how often you haul a load as to which spring rate you want.

So is the difference CS047R + for the heavier and CS047 - for the standard? or is the + and - just to correct taco lean?
