Yep two valves, first one was at like 29k and my second one was just past 60k. The first one at 29k the dealer would not cover nor Toyota corporate. I ordered one and fixed it myself, then a few years later Toyota issued the campaign and they did reimburse me the money for the part. Second valve was covered under the campaign again. Both of my valves the rubber around the valves deteriorated and caused the valve to stick open putting the truck in limp mode. I live in a high humidity area and I think that has something to do with it, both times the system had a lot of moisture in it. My air pump has been perfectly fine and the filter everyone is quick to replace is still perfectly fine, the valves are the issue with this system. It's a total crap design by Toyota and we are stuck with the issues. They know it has issues because the changed the programming in 2013 to run the pump after shutdown which is supposed to help.

It is crappie systems bc just for emission plus the worse part if this system fail and put your truck in limp mode which make your truck useless....like kick in the nut twice!!.... 1 from the dealership with cost for the repair and from your own truck bc turn it into useless truck.
Toyota shouldn't not put this systems just like in tacoma 05-2011, my suspect is has to do which catalyst component bc SAI system only work at cold start to help catalyst converter get heated if engine on normal temp sai system not much to do or help, that's way if car with catalyst converter heated monitor doesn't need sai system like previous gen tacoma or any other car.

Looks like I'm ordering this sooner than I thought, ultragauge is picking up a pending SaiS code, its cooler this morning which means the valves are sticking again. This set made it 41k haha. I don't think Toyota is running the extended coverage anymore that I used for my second set.

The point is this bypass more reliable the oem part it self as long as you own the truck..... that's happen with mine I got pending code P2433 and P2438 before into limp mode...
I don't think toyota will cover any more in this recall.

I agree, having a 3rd set of valves go bad since owning my truck is a little ridiculous. Toyota sure screwed the pooch on this system...so much for QDR.

Any sort of emissions issues that you can comment on? Valve just took a dump today and I got the P2441 code. Thankfully I'm stuck closed so I'm not in limp mode. Debating buying this kit versus the valve, found the OEM valve online for $480, kit is around $400. The only real deciding factor is whether or not the vehicle will pass emissions testing still. I live in Ohio and the county I live in unfortunately requires it.

None that I’ve dealt with, but we don’t have visual inspections where im at. If yours has a sniffer test or visual test I would probably just replace the pump. Another option would be to use the Hewitt kit and keep your old pump in place so you look compliant. Just add the block off plates and let the good times roll

Does your test consist of them hooking up to your OBD2? That's really all they do here. Thanks.

Unfortunatly you have the problem of the 2012 ecu not doing the shutdown purge to clear moisture, hence all the valves you have gone through.

Is depend if at your place requires emission inspection and they like inspect visual is better leave it but if you doesn't require emission inspection you can just take it off.

Yep, I know plus I live in a humid area which is making things worse. I'm just going to bypass this go around, I am not buying another valve that's not gonna last. I'm still surprised Toyota never came up with a reflash for the 12's too cycle after shutdown. They know it's an issue that's why they 13's on up are programmed to do so.

@Alloutdrs1 Your story is all too common and your correct, even if you replace the components there is a very good chance they will fail AGAIN and you will be in the same situation. I also agree it is unfortunate Toyota did not resolves this obviously flawed system. If you have any questions about the Bypass Kit do not hesitate to contact us.

Awesome kit guys! Very well built, quality product there! Pretty straight and check engine light was gone as soon as it was started up!

I scanned the truck, still getting the P0418, P2440 and P2442 under permanent but no check engine light.

@TegoTaco Thanks for the feedback and glad you got your truck back up and running. Depending on how you cleared the error codes it could take a few drives cycles for the Permanent error codes to clear. That said, since we are not seeing a Check Engine Light or Active error codes then that is a good sign. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist with. I have also included a few links below and would really appreciate if you could share your experience.
    Kindly,

We are good to go 100%!!!

    Thanks you @hewitt-tech

Quick question, I can remove the pump now right? Do I just remove the hose that’s connected to and leave it unplugged on the end connected to the valves?

@TegoTaco Yes, you can remove the Air Pump(s) if you install the Gen 2 Bypass Kit. That said, you can also remove hose that runs to the Air Switching Valves. If you ever wanted to remove the Air Switching Valve you would to Purchase (2) Pressure Sensor Addons. That would be a full delete of the Secondary Air Injection System.
