well it's been a fun ride...
i set out this weekend thinking i would be getting a 2014 Tundra but first off found they have some kind of recall that has left all of them on the lot unable to sell any. i got quoted a ridicules lease payment before i left the dealership and decided to go look at a GMC i had found at a nearby dealership.
for a lot of reasons i ended up with the only currently for sale 2014 GMC sierra All-Terrian with a 6.2L (corvette variant) engine. (in black)
i have to say other than being a lot bigger and a little harder to park i really like this truck!
anyway i have some things for sale some of you may be interested in. i will post in the for sale section shortly.

if you look at this thread back when i first got the truck i built a killer subwoofer system with integrated amplifier rack. it looks better than any box i have seen without giving up any back seat space for passengers and looks like it might have been offered front he factory. if youo have the grey interior this is a near perfect match! several people wanted to have me build one for them but it was a lot of work involved and a lot of mess i just didn't want to go through again.
everything is explained in this thread if your interested..

i also have a brand new Kenwood DNN 990 navigation head unit with install kit, wire harness and steering wheel control modual that will plug right into your 2009 or later non JBL equipped truck. you don't need to cut any wires at all. that's been installed about 6 months to sell.

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/au...b-fiberglass-sub-enclosure-amp-rack-pics.html

also i just bought a set of eagle eye projector beam with CFL halo headlights that i retrofitted with the miramoto Bi-xenon projectors. i had just built these again as a second set as the fist set had got some road damage on them. so i took the old ones apart and because i had the projectors it was an easy fix. I've had these assembled less than a month and they work perfect.
i have the ballasts and H1 bulbs and i also took pics when i removed them so i can send you a DIY step by step that will take you less than 30 minutes to install and they may not even need to be adjusted once installed.

also have 2 sets of LED tail lights 1 looks like stock but smoked and the other is all LED including turn signals that i bought just a month ago.

also have a set of factory 16" aluminum wheels complete with TPMS and brand new cooper studded snows with about 2500 miles on them.
before i try selling locally on cragslist i thought i would ask here to see of maybe some local in colorado may want them as a winter set of tires. i am happy to deliver locally because i think shipping them might cost a lot.

anyway, sad to leave this place but i really like my new sierra. for those of you who may ask why and what were the reasons ill explain..

    1. i use my truck only to go dirt biking and to drive in snow. so i put about 8,000 miles per year on my truck (my 2009 had only 44k miles on it)
so for this reason i wanted the standard size bed (with is a couple inches longer than the tundra with double cab)
    2. since i park in my 3 car garage i only have room on the single garage door side to park the truck, so it has to have power folding mirrors in order to get in or out as a full size truck is just too wide to fit in otherwise.
the only Tundra with folding mirrors is the platinum edition and it only comes as a crew max! the problem with a crew max is that it has the shorter bed and i really wanted to be able to put 2 bikes in the bed and still close the tail gate!
i really don't need the additional passenger space because only on occasion do i have passengers in the back seats. i need cargo room in the back more than i need people room.
so to get the tundra meant giving up some of the primary function of this truck for me.
    3. the only tundras currently available in my area are all flex fuel and flex fuel means no super charger! stock power is 381 hp and 401 tq with a SC we can get into the 500 hp zone and i would have really loved to do that but i would have to special order a truck and that might take months. my patience doesn't last that long!
    4. the tundra gets 17 mpg on the highway, most of my dirt bike trips take me about 300 miles west to grand junction or moab the sierra with the 6.2l gets 20 mpg and I've already got better than that on the highway coming home from the dealership.
    5. the 2014 sierra has been totally redesigned inside and the infotainment and on star makes it possible to remote start the truck from my phone and the bose stereo in the sierra absolutely kicks butt!

so in summary, i can tow 11,000 pounds with the GMC i get better MPG and 420 hp / 460tq without doing anything to the truck! i tested my tacoma with G meter app on my phone and at my altitude (6500 feet) it ran a 0-60 in 7.5 secs and 1/4 mile in 15.9 the sierra can run that or better with no modification. but putting a super charger on a chevy engine is way easier to do since all the corvettes and camaros share the same engine. (many have been there and done that) if i decide to install one, calloway got 540 bhp/522 lb-ft torque out of their kit! (got to love american muscle!) don't need any fancy ECU or holding out for some plugs to be released to hack the ECU either!

my first mod will be a dual exhaust because that Corvette V8 sounds awesome!

i would have liked to have the power rear window and cooled seats and the sunroof of the tundra but i think overall GMC in the large truck segment makes a better product if you consider what trucks are really made for! and the sierra in black looks aggressive as hell! i want to get some black and chrome rims for it this spring to complete the look.
i have only 1 pic as it was getting tinted yesterday (fist place i stopped after i left the dealer) but ill post more pics if anyone is interested.

oh and BTW i was able to lease a 50,000 truck for 48 months for about the same money i was paying on the tacoma.

anyway if any of you are interested ill try to post some pics. and if anyone wants to buy some good used stuff send a PM.

Good luck with that GMC. I sold my 2011 GMC Denali HD 2500, to move to Toyota. It was in the shop 11 times. Engine problems, electrical, wheel bearings, frame rust, and interior rattles up the wazoo. All with 11,000 miles in a year.

one of the reasons i leased, i can get out of it easy enough if i don't like it.
honestly if toyota offered the platinum in a double cab i would have waited.
i also got an extended warranty for 5 years and 40k miles as i don't drive it much.

like i said, i had very specific needs in a truck and the tundra didn't meet mine. i really didn't want the smaller bed space and i don't need as much passenger room. i only have 240 inches to fit a 229.5 inch long truck in the garage. otherwise i may have had more options.

but we shall see.. this is why leasing makes so much sense, but honestly i think with the redesign for 2014 they are better than previous years. and i rarely keep cars more than 40k miles anyway.:D

Well you can't post up about moving to a GM from a Toyota on a Toyota forum without getting a lil heat lol. If you like it and it does everything you need it to, then be happy with it! The tacoma obviously fell short in areas often enough to make you switch. They're nice trucks and having a full size is comfortable. The extra room is nice. They're not that bad of trucks, what happen to the above poster who knows. I work at a dealership and I don't see that many coming in for many issues. Every make and model out there has some though, even our beloved Toyota. Floor mat 100mph prius of death? Yeah that happen.

    Congrats man!

Not giving him heat. Just hope he has better luck than I had with a GM product.

thanks for your insight, oh i full well expected some heat! everyone has an opinion. honestly. for the past month as i thought about this decision i was pretty sure i was going to get the tundra. and i suppose i could have made it work, but i would have never been really happy. i did drive the tundra and was a little surprised at the power or lack of it! i guess i expected more. but the truth is the SC taco being a light weight truck had a lot of off the line punch! and i felt very confident in the snow with studded snow tires just flooring it and steering while snow flew everywhere!
i am nervous in the snow with the GMC it's snowing today and i don't know if its the larger truck that has me a little freaked out or the fact i don't have the confidence of all season tires? or if it is the new truck 2 days old. maybe its a little of everything?
but i do know the ride is much better on the highway, i love the sound ! (but want more of it)
and my other 2 cars are brand new Lexus a 2014 IS 350 RWD and a 2013 GS AWD both F sport. so if i have the need for something really fun to drive, i haven't given up on toyota all together just yet!

It's new so give it time. You'll get used to the truck and gain confidence. As for sound, I'm partial to Corsa exhaust. Had on on my tahoe and loved it.

LOL i am not NEARLY that broke up about it! now when i sold my 2008 Z06 corvette, that's a whole different story! i actually cried! but the tears were also joy as my new 2012 centennial edition Z06 was going down the assembly line soon after!
i found the 2012 easier to let go of for some reason.. i think i tend to get bored with cars easily. i suppose i may need therapy..
fact is just 12 months ago my garage included the following..

    2006 CRF 450X dirt bike
2009 Toyota tacoma access cab TRD SC
    2012 Acura TL
    2012 Centennial edition Corvette Z06

and now in less than 12 months starting in april of last year, everything with an engine has been replaced with a new replacement and in this order i replaced

    06 crf 450 for a 2013 yamaha WR 450
12 Acura TL for 2013 Lexus GS 350 F sport AWD
12 Corvette for 2014 Lexus IS 350 RWD
and now the 09 tacoma for a 2014 Sierra

i am to the point now that i don't even notice the new car smell anymore and i don't get as attached as easily.
i suppose there are worse addictions than new cars!
but i guess those addictions might not cost as much or if they did i would probably be overdosing on a daily basis

i hear ya but as a business owner i can get a much bigger tax deduction on a lease verses a purchase. as i write the entire vehicle off on the taxes.

I understand that but paying about the same and having nothing to show for it after 48 months wouldn't sit well with me.

So what is the deal with all the tacoma 's disappearing or people coming to say they bought something other than a tacoma?

Statistics showed that 85% of the Chevrolet/ GMCs built in 90 are still on the road today........

    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
The other 15% made it home
