    YOU HATE YOUR STOCK HORN?

Well I sure do! It's quiet, wimpy, pathetic, and makes the truck sound like a Japanese scooter and nothing like a truck. People barely hear it or pay attention when you need to use it.

Now you too, like Bruno Mars, can jump in the Cadillac and put some miles on it.

How do you solve this incredibly first world problem?

I took four Delco-Remy horns from a 1985 Cadillac DeVille and put them in my truck. Each horn plays one unique note, in this case A - C - D - F respectively. Delco-Remy manufactured these four horn setups for select Cadillac vehicles in the late 70's throughout the mid 90's.

These horns sound absolutely amazing in tune — it's almost like a train horn. It is a train horn. People look and pay attention when these things go off.

On GM sedans, it was setup where two horns were bolted in each fender — what I did was modify the stock mounting brackets and bolted all (4) onto a flat bracket. From that point it bolts in your factory valence. These horns draw about 5 Amps each so I created a wiring harness which includes a relay, and 20 Amp fuse to handle the power.

ALL tiers of note variations have the same volume, but they all sound different. (A, C, D, F) is the premium tier which are only found on very high end trim level Cadillacs and Buicks - they are increasingly rare being only found in a very small percentage of vehicles that GM manufactured from 1975-1995.

That being said all tiers of this horn system sound amazing compared to the stock hi/lo tone horns found on almost ever vehicle today.

Here is the system on my truck compared to the stock horn:

Complete System & Wiring Harness - Setup #1:

    File_005.jpg

Setup #1 is a turn-key, plug & play system ready to bolt into your 1998-2004 1st Gen Tacoma OR 2016+ 3rd Gen Tacoma (MAY fit on 2nd Gen, but I can't confirm) It bolts to the lower bolt of the center vertical radiator support behind your factory valence on 1st Gens, and the unused radiator support hole under the hood latch mechanism on 3rd Genz. All you would have to do is plug the provided wiring harness in, and bolt the horn setup to the truck. (See diagram below) If you have a '95-'97 Tacoma, you will not be able to use Setup #1 as the front bumpers are much shorter and do not have clearance.

Unmodified Stock Cadillac Brackets - Setup #3:
This is a great option for those with off-road bumpers or need to mount the bracket according to their own needs and specifications (such as in a sedan, sports car, or compact vehicle). You can mount them as is, or weld them onto a bracket. The possibilities are endless.

Here is how it looks like when mounted on my '98 with the stock bumper. It is flush with the bottom cross-member where the skid plate mounts to.

SUPER EIGHT Eight Horn Setup on 3rd Gens Courtesy of @TSki

I prep, prime, and paint the whole horn system with automotive primer, and industrial black enamel paint. Each and every horn is tested, sandblasted, painted, and tested again!

These horns will work with the 1995-2000 (1) horn harness, as well as the 2001-2004 (2) horn harness. Other vehicles may need to splice their horn harness if a standard spade connector will not fit.

    NOTE:
1995-1997 Tacomas have shorter front bumpers than 1998+ trucks, as such you will not be able to use the Setup #1, which mounts to the vertical radiator support. Setup #2, and Setup #3 will work fine.

Here are your choices for horn configuration:

    setup 1 vector.png

    setup 2 vector.png

    setup 3 vector.png

These horns will and should work with ANY vehicle that sends a 12v Pulse to the stock horn when the horn button is pressed.

1ST GEN TACOMAS: I recommend Setup #1 for 1998-2004 trucks. For 1995-1997 trucks I recommend getting Setup #2 or #3 as they can be mounted elsewhere due to the narrow valence which does not allow for Setup #1.

2ND GEN TACOMAS: I recommend Setup #2 or #3, as I am unsure if Setup #1 will fit in the valence as it does on 1st Gen Tacomas. Your results may vary.

3RD GEN TACOMAS: You have the most space out of all the generations. Setup #1 WILL fit and bolt under the hood latch assembly on your trucks.

ALL OTHER NON-TACOMA VEHICLES: Setup #2 or #3 would be your best choice as you have the flexibility to mount it anywhere you can bolt the brackets or the horns themselves to. Setup #1 is only recommended for vehicles with a vertical radiator support with a bolt at the bottom center in the bumper or valence that allows for the system to mount to.

    DISCLAIMERS:

ATTENTION - GROUNDING: ALL variations of the horn require a bare metal surface to function. The brackets on this horn act as the ground and the horns WILL NOT function unless they are mounted with a clear path to ground. (The frame of your car is a suitable ground.)

ATTENTION - FITMENT: I cannot confirm fitment in any vehicle for any setup besides 1998-2004 Tacomas with Setup #1. It is your OWN responsibility to find a suitable place to mount these horns. You have 3 choices to mount these horns according to the vehicle you plan on mounting them on. I am not responsible if you buy Setup #1 and it does not fit in your vehicle.

ATTENTION - All Individuals NOT using this system on a Toyota Tacoma:
While these horns will function on ANY vehicle that sends a 12v pulse when the horn is pressed, I again CANNOT confirm fitment. You will have to find somewhere to mount it using either Setup #1, #2 or #3.

ATTENTION - 1995-1997 Tacoma Owners: These model year trucks have a smaller bumper and decreased valence size, as such Setup #1 will not fit in the valence. You will need to use Setup #2 or #3 and find somewhere to mount these horns (i.e. - The fenders, under-frame, engine bay, etc.)

ATTENTION - Off-Road Bumper Owners: Setup #1 is only confirmed to bolt up and fit in 1998-2004 trucks with the factory valence. While Setup #1 may fit with an off-road bumper, I cannot confirm fitment. Setup #2 and #3 are your best choices.

ATTENTION - 2005-2015 Tacoma Owners: Setup #1 is only confirmed to fit on 1998-2004 Tacomas and 2016 Onwards Tacomas. While 2005-2015 Tacomas have similar vertical radiator supports, I cannot confirm fitment on these vehicles. Setup #2 or Setup #3 will be the best option as the mounting choices are much greater than Setup #1.

If I get enough interested I'll post a group buy thread. The price will be comparable to aftermarket horn setups on the market. The group buy will have a discount!

I like the sound in the second video but all 4 together in the first video sounds like I'm stuck in gridlock on the 405...

It sounds different because the car in the second video is moving while my truck is stationary. Trust me these sound better in person. I ordered a sound decibel meter and it's coming in tomorrow - I will post results of the dB difference once I can get it. Let me say right now it's a HUGE difference. My buddy a couple blocks away could hear it.

Awesome. I'm still figuring out the 2001-2004 wiring (as toyota changed it in 2001) but it shouldn't be any different.

I wired my personal system in a way where I could use the stock horn in the setup too. If you really wanted you could have up to SIX HORNS!

Word of advice - have all of the parts already before officially opening the group buy. You can read some stories about guys that didn't do that and they got into dire straits. Great job on the idea and design. I'm impressed!

I have a bucket of Cadillac horns sitting in my garage right now - don't worry. I came prepared. Thanks for the advice!

If I get enough interested I'll start fabricating the brackets and doing the painting and priming followed by the wiring harnesses. I have enough material to make at least 12 different horn setups for 12 people - that is until I run out of horns or wire.

Understand I'm pissing myself with laughter at this point! 6 freaking Cadi horns! Awesome idea, but I cannot see myself rolling with these  I think you'll get a pretty good GB out of this. Can't wait to see others with this setup installed.

Doing it right man. I'm really impressed. Just not sure if it would fit with a steel bumper or I'd be in. Maybe make the kit available without the mounting bracket as an option as well and more people may be interested. :spy:

Oh yeah I'm planning tons of different options to accommodate for if you have an off-road bumper or not. I am offering to make custom brackets to accommodate whatever armor setup you have. The reason I use a steel bracket is because the horns use it as a grounding plane, there is no ground wire. It requires a ground to the chassis - in this case the vertical radiator support acts as the ground.

    Thanks a lot man!

Ohhhhh buddy... wait until my video of EIGHT Cadillac horns finishes uploading. I had to test the horn setup before sending it out to a customer so for shits and giggles I daisy chained it to my truck's existing four horns.

My neighbors actually ran out of their houses shocked wondering if Union-Pacific suddenly decided to pave a railroad track on our street.

    Here we go:

Here is how EIGHT Cadillac horns on a Toyota Tacoma sounds like. If this doesn't sound like a train I don't know what does.

I am also offering the eight horn setup as the "complete baller" package, if interested.
