id like to better understand this because $100 admin fee seems a bit much. Ive shipped armor here and never had that fee from any other company.

Let me follow up with them about this. My guess is other companies take a loss on when shipping? I do know sos will sometimes take a loss on shipping.

But let me get back to you.

This could be a fact as well. I don’t disagree.

I get that. I'm also not trying to shit on the company because I've not purchased or interacted with them in any way. I think, coming from an impartial position, is I want to know what to expect from a company I've never done business with. Are the products going to be made with quality, and in a reasonable time frame.

There's also some confusion on the 3rd gen sliders page about DOM vs HREW. $500 for a set of sliders isn't too bad. I thought I'd get my front skid first, but this is tempting. The other question I'd have is this an all-November deal or does it end before that.

With any company. Knowing lead times are important. Without promising anything, I’d say lead times will be 4-6 weeks. (But I’ll follow up to get you a better number)

Sliders are now being made with DOM round tubing yes. All round tube is DOM from now on, no matter the product.

edit. No specific length on the sale yet.

Per Eddy, owner of SOS “Those states in the first post have high amounts of truck loads heading that way from the east coast. So those truck loads get charged more. Kinda like a convenience fee for having rights on the truck. It's generally $100 more per pallet. So that is our charge.
Just like for the west coast to the east. But remember this is to their DOOR FREIGHT”

Hopefully there will be a warning before it is over. Have to wait at least one pay period.

Just curious and not trying to start drama, and I've never ordered from them. What I'm questioning is the idea that any retail business won't really work with you regarding carrier-damaged items if you don't immediately thoroughly inspect the item with the shipper standing there and refuse it at that point. That doesn't seem like a normal expectation to me.

Federal and state lemon laws generally allow the consumer to cancel a sale and get a full refund for any item that has a warranty, plus all credit card companies allow a charge reversal if the items are damaged and the company won't "work" with you, and I think most shipping companies even allow a claim for damage a few days after receiving the item.

But delivery folks have a strict time deadline and many actually get in trouble if their vehicle GPS log shows them staying at one place for too long, which hurts their personnel reviews. I'm thinking the company probably doesn't want to pay for return shipping or deal with the paperwork so by requiring the customer to inspect at time of delivery they can make the carrier eat the cost. However I'm just guessing here, and again, simply curious about this since none of the other companies have that requirement that I'm aware of.

I've found it to be fairly normal in my experience, in particular if you have to sign for something. If I see any sort of exterior packaging damage that form isn't going to be signed until I give the ok. If the item is damaged I don't accept it.

Shipping companies have a 24 to 36 hours to receive your claim. If the claim is done after that it's the company's fault to handle whatever problem occurred during shipping. It’s not okay for any company to eat that cost if the customer did not inspect it and find a fault in the product during shipping times
And if something is damaged on the pallet or the crate or the wrapping it would be easily be visible whether a puncture through the hole so if you see something like that. You open it up and look at it, if it is damaged you do not receive it. The come shipping company will take it back they will contact the company and it will be handled.
Also that's why companies like SOS pay to have insurance on the item because if the consumer accepts the UPS freight, UPS is longer in charge of that and if it's damaged companies like SOS have to personally eat that That's the reason why companies like SOS pay for shipping insurance

I know it’s definitely not because the paperwork doesn’t want to get filed.

I was rash and accepted a RTT that was damaged in shipping and luckily the company is nice and sending me new stuff. Once I accepted it that’s it. They’re off the hook (for the most part/ depends on volume the company you bought from ships)(I use to work in the freight industry)

    pretty much what @TheCochese said.

Usually though items aren’t damaged. That had to get posted once and I figured I’d just keep that up so you guys are tracking on it who order. Better to be transparent and have discussions like this so you know.
Might save you later on. Who knows.

Usually stuff comes buttoned up nice and with no damage.

I have no experience with the company but I do with freight. Our company sends and receives books with pallets ranging from 250lbs to 2k plus. I have not heard of a surcharge for shipping from certain states

our books come from Michigan to the southwest

there are plenty of trucking companies to get bids from for each order and only takes a couple minutes. I would think there is a way around this fee

I got my sliders via last year's Black Friday sale and had no issues with customer service or shipping - all my questions were answered timely, the pallet arrived in perfect condition, and the sliders are great quality.

Planning on ordering some skid plates on this sale, possibly the front recovery point as well. Gonna have to look into that $100 fee thing though

There is a way around it, find another LTL carrier and pay higher rates and pass it to the customer. Also using a broker to bid out the work adds to the cost as the broker also has to make money to stay in business

I work in logistics and have for quite some time. We ship several hundred shipments LTL across the US every month. There are plenty of carriers that have surcharges for the stupidest of shit. Anything to and from CA will have a “CA surcharge” because gas is so much more expensive versus other states. That’s just the one example off the top of my head.

A lot of the surcharges you won’t necessarily see on your freight bill, as they are built into the lump sum rate as an accessorial fee that you won’t know about unless you specifically ask for a breakdown on the shipment.

Any other shipping questions I can answer if needed.

PS - I have every piece of armor SOS makes and the only part that had to be modified was my IFS skid because the jig was slightly off at the time. Eddy and Justin got it fixed for me without any hassle.

Anyone have any better pics of the 3G front skid? The one on the website makes the filter door look very difficult to remove.

It’s four bolts. Very easy and simple to remove.

Can’t upload pics from my phone since I’m out of storage and iCloud can’t download it.
