But even though your truck was built in TX, you still bought from a manufacturer who supports it, and who also just doubled their Mexican plants capacity earlier this year. :boink:

My cousin just bought a base model single cab 5 lugger from the dealer for 19k. I was telling him my old boss bought a truck just like that but back in 06 or 07 for 16k. Im sure it wasn't me, but prices for the tacos did go up.

on the other hand, I thought LED tail lights came stock…and there were no floor ads when he bought it either. hmm

Somebody else said it - inflation. The printed money is targeted to devalue at a rate between 2-3% per year. So, over a span of 10 years, expect your dollar to go 30% less.

Yes, Toyota hasn't retooled the Tacoma line and were not seeing that at the consumer level. But how often do we see new things get drastically cheaper? Not really often.

Third thing is government regulation and taxes. You now must have TPMS, add $200 to MSRP and annoyance to you and me when dealing with tires. Add VSC - $500. Add backup cameras - $200. Add more airbags. More frame bracing, etc.

There are a lot of things that are driving price up that isn't Toyota taking more profits.

Yeah, ten years ago you could've gotten into your Tacoma for a bit less. Ok. I could have filed a tank of gas for less than half than I did today. The last thing is that $25k 4x4 DC in 2006 would still cost you $25k (used 2006 4x4 DC) except now, it's got 80k miles on it rather than 8 or 80 miles on it.

I bought my Taco from an American dealership. I don't know how much he profited from the sale, but I bet that his company wouldn't have folded if I would've bought the F150 from the place down the road. But I supported Americans at the local level. So did you all. Unless you literally went into Mexico or Japan and bought your vehicle and imported it privately.

    Meh,

I "downgraded" from a 69k$ F250 diesel to a $45k tacoma (Pro+SC) and couldn't be happier - for some it's not about the bigger is better, it's about what I wanted to drive and the practicality of a smaller truck for me. I fully admit the F250 was MUCH more comfortable, got better gas mileage, and more capable in every scenario except 4wheeling, but I *LIKE* the tacoma, and the F250 was filling a need (towing a race car and 24" enclosed trailer loaded up) - I never really looked at it and went "man I like that truck" - it was very nice, don't get me wrong, but I didn't LIKE it the way I LIKE the tacoma.

Who else builds exclusively in the US? My truck was built here, and that's what counts!

Hi, TW. I ordered in aug. 2015 Ac 4x4 sr pg. $ 27,800 OTD. I would like say this is my first Tacoma. The reason is value. Okay you can buy a 4500 lb. Chev, ford,or dodge $4,000 to $8,000 off The lots are full these they are way over priced. A well equiped chev. ford. or dodge cost $ 45,000. The resale value of Toyota is a lot better.

...to obviously purchase a new truck but there's not another manufacturer out there that really wants there brand back as a trade except to sell you a new one. Tacoma, especially the 4cyl, 5 sp. Is a hot commodity with the best resale out there. Many just don't sell/trade once the've bought one. I don't plan on ever getting rid of my '09.

High demand + rock solid reliability = $$$

You are right on target with your statement above.

I believe they are driving the Toyota Hilux and Nissan Navara, vehicles that are derivatives of the Tacoma and Frontier that aren't sold domestically. The Special Forces use the Tacoma, as you can see here: Tacoma Special Forces Use . Last but not least, even if opposing militants were using the Tacoma, it would most likely not affect the resale value negatively as that knowledge can prove that the trucks are capable of operating in such a harsh environment.

First off, probably because you took it to a Ford dealership as a trade. I sold my 2011 private with 35k miles at $26k and made $3000 on the sale.

Secondly, seeing a Toyota driven in the middle east is nothing new. As long as there has been a conflict over there with the US, there's always been footage of toyotas.

Ford dealers don't want to have to put a Taco on the lot; It overshadows their lineup so they'll wholesale it. Plus, if they charged what it was worth off their lot, it'd make their used vehicles look worse.
Here in the lovely state of Virginia, where they tax your ride, my '12 prerunner SR5 which i paid $27,500.00 is still worth $23,500.00 according to the County.

We got a 14 trd offroad 4x4 with 1400 miles on it sitting on our lot (Ford dealership) we paid 29k for it on trade selling for Originally 32k been sitting for 2months now and it's been marked down to 30k. If I didn't have my fusion payment I'd trade my taco in for it
