I did mine a week after purchasing. My plans are to do it every summer. Ohio winters aren't like a Canadian winter but still plenty of brine if ODOT thinks there's going be any precipitation near or below freezing. Figured it's cheap insurance to keep truck looking good.

The brine is the worst too. Where I am we don’t get a ton of snow but the town puts more salt on the road then there is snow ‍♂️

lol he’s a little over cautious not gonna lie. He warned me once about putting a set of tires on inside out that it was illegal if I get pulled over. He’s a different cat but fair and thorough

I did mine in the summer season, a few months after getting the truck. Salt and brine get pretty heavy in connecticut were i'm located. I got tired of doing the truck with fluid flim every fall after being all washed off by spring. Ended up will cosmoline 2 years ago. Its still glued on the chassis like the day it was done. Really impressed with that stuff.

Pretty common to use an under hoist support, it isn't (shouldn't be) holding anything up but does make the vehicle, especially a longer one more secure. Only takes a minute to set up.

    Different styles are available.

Maybe the picture is deceiving, and I see the lift in the front, but not the rear. It just looks like this hoist is almost maxed out and the only thing holding up the rear. I'm sure the guy know what he's doing and I'm not seeing the whole picture, but I'd be leery about getting under there as shown

Zoom in on the yellow lift arms visible above the operators left shoulder, there are two, one to the front of the frame and one to the rear.

The safety stand is probably close to the top of the range, that style goes lower so it can also be used as an extra hand to hold an exhaust system, gas tank or rear axle with the spring removed.

That style is probably rated around 1500 pounds, remember it is intended for holding, not lifting, just like having someone hold the base of a ladder for extra stability.

I would have confidence standing right next to the gentleman -- except for the chance of getting sprayed. ;)

I had some gear in the bed too so it was a little back heavy but just in for an oil spray so he wasn’t going to rocking the truck around doing the suspension or anything but exactly what he said… “ya never know”

    Intelligent man.
As I have gotten older (and slower to move) I have become more and more conservative. Also I work alone, a few extra minutes traded for feeling more secure is a good investment to me.
