Fluid Film is available at most Lowes stores, so no need to wait on Amazon.

Pressure washer is best to avoid. Whenever I reapply a new fluid film coating in the fall I power wash it and the film is definitely gone. Rinse it with a garden sprayer but I wouldn't go crazy. Unless you're doing the fluid film, then go absolutely nuts. I always do.

Just stumbled upon this thread......I've posted before in a couple others about this topic.....I live in Chicago so I'm very familiar with salt...
Make sure your underside is clean....you can pressure wash it or if you've recently driven in rain, that's fine too.
Buy 4-5 cans of fluid film for the initial application. It will last a while because of the lanolin. Spray everything but the exhaust and the brakes. Put it in every crevasse of the frame.
I do my initial application in the fall then hit it again with a can or 2 just before it snows for the first time.
........my underside looks absolutely clean, fluid film works great!!!

Thenderone, sell me your front bumper and that will be one less item to worry about for corrosion protection, just a thought!

I just bought 4 cans... Cleared out all of their stock! Unfortunately no time to pressure wash first... Gotta do it tonight because the roads will be a salty wet hell tomorrow. I'm sure there's already salt dust on the truck from their preliminary salting of the roads

Maybe try going to a self car wash and just stick the wand underneath and do it that way.....ideally you want it clean before you apply it.

I have a 03, and I had some surface rust on my frame. Nothing too insane and I checked the structural integrity of the frame, as well as if there was an rust inside the frame itself. I found that my frame didn't have much, if at all any rust on the inner portions of the frame. But as a preventive measure I used KBS rust seal and coated the inside of the frame and coated the inside with KBS cavity coater wax. Worked very well for me.

Well I just coated everything down with about 3.75 cans worth. Couldn't really reach the top part so I just "misted" above it hopefully it'll do enough. I haven't been wheeling in a while so the frame was pretty clean. I sprayed inside every possible opening in the frame. I'm hoping it's enough. I'm guessing TN doesn't get too much snow and ice so this shouldn't be a huge deal. I'll just have to stay proactive and vigilant.

I'll jump on the fluid film band wagon. Before winter I always get a gallon of bar and chain oil and a ton of candle wax, get the oil nice and hot, throw the wax in, then spray on the frame and underbody. Oil goes on and then the wax dries and it doesn't come off. I fluid film it after I do that as well. I also plug up the factory holes in the frame with wax toilet rings, cut them into bits and then shove em in the holes. That way no salt spray gets inside. Obviously leave the drain holes alone though.
