I installed this little gem today. It's a small LED light console that mounts underneath the radio console.

I found out about these from one of the YouTube videos made by @boogie3478 aka Tacomaholic. This is not the same one he installed but it better suits my needs. I am trying to better illuminate the switches in my Iggy panel just ahead of the console.

Installation was real easy. You just pop of the HVAC knob panel, and the device's wires tap off a couple of wires going into the black connector. The steel mounting plate is held onto the bottom of the radio console with Peel and Stick adhesive the the device holds on to that by magnets. What's cool is you can pull it right off the mounting plate and use it as an emergency flashlight. (In addition to the 12V power it also has a couple of coin batteries included.

I'll give it a real test tonight after dark.

It hangs off the two coat-hanger hooks at the rear of the cab and the two Oh Shit handles on either side of the back seat.

When I first saw this I thought "I need that." When I'm travelling long distances, even in the winter, I like to take off my coat and drive in my short sleeves. Normally I've been stashing my coat behind the Driver's seat where it can get covered with dog hair or dirt. Or both. Now I can stash my coat in the "Attic".

Bought this Hi Lift from @Hafaday a couple weeks ago and got it bed-mounted today. Now I'm ready to run with the Big Dogs.

Actually, it's now just a heavier Mall Crawler.

Please welcome the newest member of the Salty_Dog fam, and the successor to Big Dog Scooter. He's a full-blooded Collie puppy and his name is Sebastian. He is Hell on four paws. I have never seen a creature on Earth, human, canine or otherwise so full of wind, piss, and excitement as this little guy. If you gave a a 5-Hour Energy drink to a 3-year old, it wouldn't even come close to his hyperactivity.

And he is a biter. Just little puppy nips (perfectly natural for his age) that he'll grow out of. Soon I hope.

I had added a lot of mods and accessories one by one over the past couple of years; various lighting, compressor and air horns, hard wiring GPS and DashCam, Seat Heaters, front parking camera, etc. The whole thing was a mish-mash of wires going every which what way.

So I decided to rewire the whole shebang in a more orderly manner and label everything so I know what connects to what. As of this morning it is still not completely back together but it is back together enough that I could drive it to the train station.

Here's what it looked like yesterday.

 

Finally, an update.

I had to re-engineered my OBA system this weekend. Previously, I had the air tube running from the compressor in the engine compartment down alongside of the transmission to the air tank that is mounted under the bed ahead of the spare tire. This left it perilously close the hot exhaust as I found out one hot July day when I was sitting in traffic and suddenly I heard the hose burst. Sure enough, a hole had melted in it.

I instead ran it through the cab and out through a grommet in the "rear firewall". And, I added a couple of connectors (one on each side) for easy access when I need to air up my tires after a trail run.
