Anyone else having issues pairing the S8 with the Tacoma Bluetooth? I can only get call audio to come through. Voice to text and Waze gps, I can only get audio from the device.

You don't buy a truck for its fucking fenders!
    2.5" lift w/35's
Did you go to the bluetooth settings on the truck and click the "connect for music" option?

I had an 8s plus and my taco would hesitate to engage the bluetooth but after the second pairing no problem. upgraded to a s9 plus and it paired on its own without evening doing anything.

Check the audio output on your phone(drag down on the notification bar and it should be below your quick settings and above any notifications) and make sure it's set to the truck

Call audio and media audio outputs are different as far as the S series phones go

Off topic, but you can get Waze GPS to work on Entune?

The Toyota GPS that I paid a premium for just sucks.

Still no luck. When I push the talk button in my truck it goes through the fine and says "preparing for pairing" and then I search for the truck on my phone and I cant find it on my phone.

I have a 8+ and I am computer challenged. It took me a couple of tries but follow the "pairing" section in the truck manual and it will work.

Finally got it to work! I had no idea I could use the settings knob to pair the phone. All good now for music and call audio but one things not coming through, text message alerts don't come through the car speaker. Actually they are completely muted which is annoying. Any fix for that?

So another issue with this S8 and the Tacoma. To get call audio, everything works perfectly. I will be listening to the radio and when a call comes in the speaker automatically switches to the phone perfectly, same if I make a call.
The problem is with media. Things like Waze app, You Tube etc, require me to select AUX on my trucks radio. So for example if I am listening to the radio and running Waze, when Waze prompts for directions it doesnt automatically come through unless I am on AUX. There is also a delay so I dont hear the first bit of what the phone is saying.

You need to change the audio output of Waze to the phone. This is accomplished by swiping down the notification shade when you're in the truck and bluetooth is connected, and it will have an audio output option. It will, ny default, go to the truck. So if you have Waze going and you're listening to the FM/XM radio, its sending the audio to the bluetooth in your radio. Changing what I just said will allow it to play over the phone.

No problem with my S8+ or my wife's s7 edge with our 2012 tacoma.

The only issue I have noticed is that if I start the truck without the phone in the cab then it wont connect to the phone unless I turn the truck off and then back on again.

So how do I get waze to come through the truck speakers without switching to AUX? I just want it to interupt the radio and talk when waze needs to say something. My iphone did this without a hitch.

I'm having issues with my s8 bluetooth as well. Say I'm listening to music and it works fine then i go to switch to the next song, the head unit will switch to xm then i have to change it back...this started happening one day after an update. Any thoughts? I've tried unpairing and repairing several times.

    Mine is a 2012 sport

Mine will also switch from bluetooth to xm if the music is buffering for more then about 15 seconds, it is really annoying.

Interestingly enough, I'm having a similar issue but completely opposite. I am able to listen to music through the bluetooth radio in the truck (2012 Tacoma), but I am unable to use the phone (Galaxy S8) function of bluetooth.

I also have that annoying switch to XM if I try to change a song on Pandora or something like that. But the phone thing is incredibly tough to deal with.
