San Antonio Monthly Meet

A suggestion for a location for the next event. Broadway 5050 in the Colannade (I-10 & Wurzbach). Decent bar, good food, but they have a great parking lot on a busy intersection....The area in front of the Starbucks near the Wells Fargo ATM, is always empty well lit and right on the corner, hopefully attract a few members driving by.

I used to hang with some exotics/go fast cars that used to gather there on sunday evenings. But I havent seen car meets there in some time. Again, just a suggestion.

My 2 cents on building a tacoma car club in SA, is just that...focus on building up the membership, not meeting at the last minute when someone is bored.

Years ago there was a south Texas four wheelers club,and if you're a member,you had a rear window sticker. Got the word out. Sockmonkey could make us some stickers. Just a thought.

On the right track, a couple of other key things.

- Meets centrally located (i.e. I-10 area). Then once it gets larger, have it rotate. Or participate in the big general meets like at Biff Buzzbys on fridays. When the big friday night meet was on Austin highway, that parking lot was huge...every car club had their own section. It was awesome.

- If you know of a tricked out Tacoma in your neighborhood or workplace go talk to him or leave him a note and ask him to join you at the next meet

Along those lines.....my friend built his car club just by printing up some business cards on his computer directing them to his website..and he would just leave them on his target cars.

- Schedule the meets at least 2 weeks in advance, and post the exact place, day & time on your messages. Traditionally in (North) San Antonio, early friday evenings are car meet nights (Sunday afternoon on the Southside).

I would really like to get these Tacoma meets going, but it needs to be open and welcoming to all Tacoma owners.

Although it is out of the way, another possible future spot is Pig Stand near Pearl/Downtown. Longest running car meets in SA...while they are mainly classics there, I do believe Tacoma will be respected since they are a hometown truck. I may do some scoutting during the holidays to check out the scene and see if there is space for Tacomas there.
I havent been to one of their friday night meets in years.

For the non-locals not familar with Pig Stand, they were the first "Drive -In" curb service. Good spot to bring the whole family or a bit of nostalgia

I also read they are building a Carls Jr & Steak N Shake at the Rim..those would make good spots if the parking lots are right. They both host car meets in their native lands.

if i had my tripod and nikon on me i wouldve tried to catch some shots! Nik the truck is still dirty and am seriously contemplating not cleaning it for a bit until it stops raining randomly out here..! that was a blast though water to the frame if not door sills and donuts and lots of them. need to take it to hidden falls sometime regardless of being stock.
