Me too, Kolunatic. My only previous experience was with the old Chevy's. I have found auto tranny frames all over the place. But the manual ones are non existent. There was one in Biloxi, MS that I nearly rented a Uhaul to go get, but it was bent beyond help from a major wreck with a bridge. It looked like the bridge won.

So many are hauled to Mexico daily unfortunately. I see them all the time on hwy. might be why there’s a shortage?

 

That's exactly what a retired Toyota dealer told me unofficially. They sell for huge money in Mexico.

 

Just getting used to the post/reply stuff on TacomaWorld. It is sorta important as I am sorta stuck in TX if I can't do something about my truck.

Trying to get away from the mountain weather. I had a big trip around Texas and was going to go back mid June when the issue with the frame became a crisis. I have been trying to find another one for a month. Even as far away as Ohio and Kentucky. I figured if I towed mine back to Tennessee with a Uhaul, I could take a detour and pick up a frame along the way. They are just not out there. I did try some salvage places in Brownsville and Corpus Christi cuz, just as you and the retired Toyota dealer said, the really good quality salvage trucks are on their way to Mexico daily.

 

Is another ride an option to get you back home?

 

Called all the salvage places in town

 

They buy them from car auctions.
Can yours be straightened?
I’ve had one done before, couldn’t tell.

 

@Kolunatic there's nothing left of the frame from the bed of the truck to the passenger side door. It's gone. I do not know why the truck hasn't broken up yet. Another ride is unfortunately not an option. So it'll be a Uhaul either towing poor Frankie, or a Uhaul without him. I have a ton of stuff to get back to Tennessee and one of the salvage yards offered to buy my truck.

@TacoDude 72 yep, I called everyone of 'em. All of the ones on New Laredo hwy and went to both pick n pulls too.

 

Have you put it out on the parts hotline, it spams salvage yards all over the USA

 

I have been thinking along the same lines TacoDude 72. Getting pics of the carnage. Last time I was under the truck the latest version of Texas weather hadn't hit yet. I had to laugh when I heard on the radio to make sure and cover the pavement with something before you get under the vehicle. I already got quite a burn from the 200 degree pavement getting under the truck. I'll try to get some pics tonight. Just trying not to call attention to any problems with the truck too publicly as someone might say its not safe to drive.
