Bringing it back to life. Well used and maintained, but neglected as for cosmetic. TruxPort Roll Up Tonneau, Gentek Autodimming/Temp/Compass Mirror, Kenwood AM/FM/SAT with back up camera, RedLine Tuning hood lifts, AVS Bugflector, Custom Grille, Flex-a-Lite Electric Fan..... still working!
If they work in sand, they will work most places. I think those solid boards are MUD winners tho. Speaking from no real experience except growing up in snow. And beach sand....

I'll offer it to my peeps here before I offer it to the whole group. Would any of you be interested in buying my Thinkware F800 dash cam? Runs off the 12v currently but I'm sure you could hardwire it

I'm gonna upgrade and would prefer to sell my current cam I'll take 150 for it. Was 300 new and only had it since November

Sounds like a nice setup. The limit straps are a good idea. The other day when I was getting those pics for Matt, I don't think I overextended the shock but I know I was getting damn close. I'm concerned if I lift a rear tire it'll happen. Limit straps are great cheap insurance and peace of mind.

Have you seen that setup with SUA? Link?

You very well could do that setup one step at a time. Towers and Bilstein or even King smooth body shocks with limit straps will hold you over for a while. If you still wanted the resi's and clickers sell the old shocks and upgrade. You can also add resi's and clickers to the smooth body shocks to upgrade them. I don't recall if you need to remove the bed to install the TC mounts for the bump stops. My gut says no, if that's true you can add them later when you go full SUA. Piece it together little at a time, you know? Just my $.02.

The BAMF towers are great! For the money, you're not going to find a better setup that won't have you cutting up your bed. Hell, you can even keep the fender liner in, trust me your want that. Unless you don't mind every tiny pebble sounding like gunshots and muddy water running out your fuel door after every puddle.

Jerry confirmed you can run a 14" shock if you burn on the lower shock mounts low enough to fit the longer shock. Personally, I'm on the fence about this. After a bit of math, I think the 12's are the better option because you're going to get about the same flex (until you go SUA) and you're not going to be sacrificing that sweet, sweet ground clearance.

    Before

    After
    2D4087C4-6F64-4FFA-9D28-F5D4C3944BE7.jpg
(Both pictures are while flexed, hence the flat leafs.)

    Much better ground clearance.

You can fit 2.5's with resi's. Jerry was thoughtful enough to notch the towers where the fitting and hose would run for zero interference.

You can see the notch here.

As for the smoothies, I'm very happy with them. They are simple and seem to perform well with everything I use the truck for. The rear is very stable and the ride is still much better over stock with the bed empty or with it full. I've done everything from slow trails to hauling ass down a tore-up beach; the shocks handle it all very predictably and very smoothly. If I had the money for resi's with clickers when I originally purchased, I might have done it but after riding on these socks for, what, two years now, I won't go that route unless I'm getting a killer deal and need new shocks.

Lemme know if I can help out with any pictures or further details. If you go to that setup you're going to love it. It's a great design and it works well.

But why the slip yoke? Most people want to get rid of it for a longer shaft/better angle.

    Edit: Shpelling.

There's the Hover. Don't mistake my likes for do it interest. Some of you are very articulate at describing the part, and the intent. Gets interesting. Like your diesel thing. Suspension that is not overboard. Mhmmm..

Well, if it's something I'm interested in, I want to know as much about something as I can. Especially before I throw money at it... Usually.

I'm sold on the Mercedes engine but I'm still working out how to make it work in the Tacoma. Everything on these trucks is interconnected. It's almost so bad that it seems if a door speaker goes out you lose 4WD or third gear becomes reverse somehow. So ripping out all of the engine's ECU is tempting and the simplest option - on paper at least - but I don't think it's the best answer at this time. It's going to be many more hours of research and pouring over manuals to figure out how to bring what's in my imagination to reality. I need to spend a weekend crawling around @4x4_Coal_Roller's rig and picking his brain. If he can make a Cummins diesel work, I don't see why I can't make a Mercedes diesel work.

Night Kurt! Talk to you more tomorrow.

Thought of going to C&C yalls way this weekend but motivation to drive that far was low.
