    Hi all,
I just got my truck(12 DC SB 4x4 TX ED) back from Universal Toyota after a warranty claim for a vibration in the steering wheel between 40-60 mph. I noticed it after 2 weeks w/truck. I only have about 15k on the truck and the tires were just rotated. (Thought that would fix it) Universal replaced two tires with new ones up front and it seems to have taken care of the problem. The service guy said 2 of the old tires could not balance. What ticked me off is that it took 5 days to get 2 new BFG Rugged Terrain 265/60 17s. When the new tires came in, one of the tires couldn't be balanced. That's what the service guy said was the cause for delay. I have never heard of new tires not being able to balance? I have searched all over TW about some newer Tacomas having this vibration issue and that there are TSBs out for some sort of fix. Since its fixed I guess I shouldn't worry about it right?

Also I was NOT happy with Universals' service. I will probably start going to North Park Toyota. I hate I35 too, another reason not to go to Universal.! Does anyone know if North Parks, dealership service department is any good. I live near China Grove and those two dealers are closest to me.

Thanks and sorry about the novel.

North Park service is good. Just don't not have them balance your tires.

I never noticed the vibration after Nik pointed it out when he drove my truck.

I just notice it from 55 mph and up. Can you guys help me fix it in my garage if beer and pizza are promised? :D

Of course I'd still have to buy the parts, but I really don't know what I need exactly...

I hope they don't give the lube techs the tires to put on an balance them
There's a marking on the tire that your supposed to match up with the valve stem which is suppose to give you the best balance either issuing very little weights or none at all
That could have been there problem or the machine isn't calibrated correctly I believe cause myself I have never had a problem balancing a wheel and tire

When Universal replaced the tires it seems to have fixed the problem.

Thanks. Love this site. I waste hours of my life drooling over toyota builds and planning ways to explain to my wife why our credit cards are maxed and savings account depleted.

Im buying a '91 Land Cruiser as a project vehicle! It's in great shape except for the tires. It has 15" rims on it and 31" tires. I'd like to either replace with the same or move to a 16" rim/tire. Anyone know where I can get a good set of used tires in San Antonio? I don't have a ton of $$$ to spend right now, but want to get it road worthy.

    Thanks for any help.

They're dirty but can have them cleaned up for you
Not one piece if curb rash or anything
Tires have certificates for balancing and rotation at discount tire and also road hazard warranty

What size tires are on them? I was really looking for a more "simple" design for the LC, but I do like the setup.
