Last time I saw it, it was primed and trimmed out with the red. I'm pretty excited to get it back, however we may be moving to the Dallas area by that time.

 

Americans have that image for a reason. I've seen the other Americans abroad, they're embarrassing lol

 

Oh yeah. A white guy in Cozumel Mexico was constantly touching an indigenous mural... There was a big ol' sign that read "Do Not Touch" in bold, red letters. Guy was then escorted out by park security, and still had the balls to protest. I was laughing my ass off the entire time lmao.

 

If you can't learn the language, at least learn to pretend to enjoy trying. Goes a long way...

 

This. I blend in by not being an A-hole, learn the local language, learn regional customs, get stuff for free for being cool.

 

I can't say we "learn" the local language, but we at least try to use words we can.
My last job was with Philips, a very international company. We had a great competition that sent me to Aruba, and the wife and me to Puerto Vallarta. ENGLISH is the required language in the competition, but if you wanted to try to have more fun with a world wide competitor, you tried your best to use or understand their version. Sounding stupid at a restaurant or store while you try to get the word right is not embarrassing, and does not make you the typical asshat.

 

What's rude in Europe? I heard asking for salt to put on your food is rude.

 

If you are at a STAR restaurant, YES. The chef went to great pains to prepare the meal and the flavors. Dumping stuff on it is an insult. If you eat at McEurope - no issue.

 

You're wrong Kurt. It's always seemed like a dick move to ask for condiments, if they're not already provided. Most Europeans in areas well traveled are used to it. The ones in other spots are not.

 

Speaking of McEurope. You know what they call a Quarter Pounder with cheese in Paris?

Going from reading learned there. I was not shot in the Nederlands for exchanging my MAYO for Catsup for my fries at the hotel. But NOT eating at a STAR place either. I have no idea what "touristing" is truly like in EU. Only what I read.

Get out of the tourist zones, hang out with the locals and crash with them. I used to pretend i was a German college student so I wouldn't get the anti-American or pro-American bias treatment. It will awaken you.

I'm not over there or going. Though we might do a Viking River Cruise - where we wont have any issues. My only visit to Europe was when then sent me over to NED and then retired me! But good times, good people.
