Ya I'm not really a history buff. But I couldn't live with myself if I drive that far, come that close and not go see it.

    Thank You.

    Welcome
I haven’t been around sa for a couple years but what you have an idea for sounds like a good plan. The pearl is cool, nice micro breweries and restaurants. Just remember about traffic, it can suck. I took my cuz from Virginia to all of the missions around town including the Alamo in half a day, blazed, they were in town for one day.

The pearl can be a bit pretentious, hill country is pretty sweet, floating the guadalupe river with some beer is a texas tradition, the alamo is pretty awesome if you're a history buff. Im sure alot of people will give corpus a bad rep, but if you head out to port A/north padre island its laid back. Padre island national seashore is awesome if you like fishing and surfing! But you'll need a 4x4, corpus also offers excellent seafood.

Yes if you have not seen the Alamo you should but I love history. There is also the Texas Rangers Museum in Waco right off I35 that I highly recommend.

Not a problem at all - not native to SATX but.
Alamo - locals will probably say no, and it can be crowded. But I went there, and never regretted it. Lotta history right there, and it could vanish....
River Walk - Must do - it will be crowded and hot, but it's still fun. Stop often for drinks and munchies. Even more fun at night. If Dick's Last Resort is still open, it's safely rowdy and decadent.
Ride a bus from River Walk to El Mercado for some good junk shopping - it's fun! Food and drinks there too.
Corpus Christi! BY ALL MEANS you can drive the RAV to at least the 5 mile sign, and have some beach to your self. It's probably in good shape - I think it's $10 for the day pass. I put some picks below. Take the SPID in Courpus which turns in to Park Road 22, and keep going until you hit beach. Padre Island National Sea Shore (PINS) You can easily drive it in most all circumstances.
I don't have favorites for food, because it's been too long since I've been in SA proper. Someone there will help you out.
You picked good places to go!
    Have fun.

We find our sign and park there. You can see how crowded it is!

I'm always down. The history, it's very well organised, sometimes they have history hunts with worksheets that are fun and the firearms are GORGEOUS!

BTW - Outlet malls are overrated. Tubing in New Branufels isn't! But like everything, keeps getting harder. Outfitters just North of town in Greune are the way to go for easy fun.

You a smart cookie. There are two, happily right next to each other. Highway construction around exits will still be going on, so be aware of that. Not hard, just inconvenient.
