Are there any real good eats in the downtown area? I'll be in town for work in two weeks and trying to stick to places where I can walk pretty much.

Cool, thanks. The Pearl (brewery?) might be a bit far to walk, but I'll grab a cab if it's recommended. I'm eyeballing Google maps and some steak houses and stuff along the river that sound good, too.

Company buying? My old faves from way back that I checked are open
Little Rhien Steakhouse. Bucks and generally worth it.
Dick's Last Resort. Rude food, loud noise and lots of fun. And you can buy junk.
The restaurant at the Hilton had excellent food, wine, and used to serve Bison steak. Lean and good. That was always my closer dinner for company stuff, because it just smelled like success!
There are countless cantinas on the Walk and most all have good food and drink. You could spend the whole time and not repeat.

Little Rhien is one of the first that caught my eye! Yeah, company is buying. They are putting me and a co-worker up at the Rivercenter Marriott, and it looks like there is plenty going on in that area.

 

I know this group will also chime in on where you can get some great BBQ without straying too far. And I have never been to the Pearl, nor have I ever heard a complaint - only big compliments. I will have to get there.

 

I'll definitely check it out, then!

Technically, you should never have to stray from the walk! Keep posting, and I bet someone will like to join you. I am about an hour north up in Lockhart (Official BBQ Capital of Texas!), so not likely to roam down. Oh, our C&C meet up is next Saturday if you come that soon!
