Yeah I bet trying to find premium is a nightmare. Are you able to run the mid grade as well or only the 93?

Sunday evening I drove from the Port SA area to Bandera @ Eckhert to Woodlawn lake area and back to Port SA. Of the 14 gas stations that I looked at only one had people pumping gas. Which was the Evers @ Bandera valero. I'm off until Wednesday so I've been rationing my half a tank. I really don't want to wait for gas.

I had to put in 2 gallons of regular from a jerry can just so that I can wait in line. It ran fine on my way there. Mid grade would be safe since I have an additional injector, regular I probably wouldn't recommend as a daily.

So when I got to heb I put in octane boost to be safe.

Yep.. still a bunch of GASHOLES out there stinking up the pumps. At this rate they may have to fill some tanks and forbid any sales for 24 hrs and then fill some more tanks in the same area and then let them open them up. Otherwise I can't see it changing anytime too soon. That way maybe they can have several stations with full tanks, and there won't be such a rush to the 1 or 2 stations that do have it. Seems like there is never more than 2, and mostly just 1 that has it where I'm at.

My area sucks too. But if memory serves me, you're in the Alamo Ranch area too, correct? It stays bad over here. Soon as they pump it in, the gasholes are pumping it right back out. It doesn't help that this area has probably more growth than any other part of the city, so.. more people and more construction crews using it.

Well I finally filled up the tank, was down to just a 1/4 tank left. Was able to pull into the HEB in Lytle with no issues, but I did notice that the diesel was out so not completely back to normal yet.

That's what I was thinking. Fill up 10 stations and not open them till 10 or so more are filled. Then open all at same time.

On my way out this am there was gas in my neck if the woods yes Alamo Ranch and no lines. Maybe it is getting better.

Yeah losthusker i see nothing but 87 when I go fill up. Crazy times

Kerrville seems to have gas at a few stations but there are still several that don't have any. Diesel seems like an absolute nightmare to find. Everywhere that has had gas, has been out of diesel

Anyone powder coat or know a good powder coat place? I've been calling for quotes and have not found someone I am confident will do a decent job without trying to rape my wallet. I've never had anything powder coated and know very little about the process besides the basic concept. One place said it was $230 up front then $3 a minute for every minute in the booth. Another guy sucked me in for $200 then said he'd have to charge $200 for sand blasting... is it normal to sand blast bare steel bumpers before powder coating?

I'm not ready to recommend the place I went to since the price changed on me and I didn't have anything in writing (my fault) but they said the raw steel has a light coating of oil that has to be blasted off.

Typically yes on the sand blasting but you can sand it yourself if you really wanted to.

I used a place called turbo .. something. Like turbo coat maybe. It's been a long time ago, but they had decent prices. If they're still around you can try them, but use your judgement because, like I said, I only used them once and it was at least 11-12 years ago when I had some beadlocks PC'd.

I would prep as much as you can. If the metal needs sand blasting just get it done, or get a price. If you don't have access to a blaster, call a local HS that has a mechanic program and see if they have a price for a student to do it. Sometimes you can get it done cheap that way.

That is a brilliant idea, I'll have to give that a try. I loved doing shop projects like that when I was a student, that would be a cool way to return the favor. Never would have thought of that.

I can't speak to powder places in SA really, but I can tell you unless there is a lot of surface rust blasting isn't 100% needed no. We don't do it in my production facility, we sand any rust off, treat with a phosphate wash if needed, wipe it all down with acetone, bake it to dry the phosphate wash and then powder it. In Austin I'd recommend Crosslink Powdercoating... they use good quality powder. Make sure you ask about a UV stable powder, there are some series 38 powders from Tiger for example that have a 5 year warranty against fading.

I had a kid do my headache rack 30 years ago like that. Charged me maybe 15 bucks. I had done my toolbox etc, but the expanded metal on the rack needed to be blasted.
