so this is the place my wife and I are trying to go to. our first ever trail(s) for her 4runner and my taco. we have been planning for a month now. I know they have levels depending on your vehicle and mods but from your experience can a stock Tacoma/4runner do decent there? also, we are big campers! ready to take it on!

A stock taco can do level 3s no problem. Level 4s are very risky for a stock truck. Area B is primitive camping, but includes showers, flushing toilets, a small store and a food truck. I love going to Hidden Falls.

I use Google search to find stuff here. Just type *search topic* site:tacomaworld.com in the search bar on Google and all the search results will be only from this site. You can also click the banner at the top for current active threads.

Pushing your wheels out will cause your tires to hit the fender flares like Josh said the close to the body they are less likely to have to trim

Wheelbase bro. I need another 2 inches of clearance to make it over that one.

So I haven't had much time to explore the area, ingot here last February 2019 was put on night shift and then sucked away for training for 3 months ad then deployed where I am currently... When I get back I have some 60+ days of leave k need to burn through (not all at once obviously) but I'd like to take some trips... Off roading in Texas is difficult (for me anyways) as I am used to states with an abundance of public use lands (Alaska, WV, PA, Arizona and even CA)

What are some good "overlanding" style routes ?

Don't hate on the overlanding term, I don't have fancy Gucci gear lol. Just a chinesium rtt and rci rack.

There are several routes in Texas that we can travel, they are routes that others have done. If you look at Tx overland on FB you can get the routes so you can load into your map navigation. There is also the state parks some have areas in which you can check things out, and then there is Big Bend National Park and Big Bend State Park. They take some time to get to but there are several off road trails to see, just need to plan a few days to go and see it as it is a big area.

No hate on the overloading word, its just a figure of speech in my mind to discuss routes that we all want to explore in.
