Sitting there thinking "soon, this will all be mine!" Looks nice and peaceful Scott!
Garage door looked great as well - was that a metal or wood door? Got me considering....though a power wash would probably do just fine.

Presto chango. Not that big of a deal, but after driving with the yellow fogs down low (non-DOT) during the trip down South, I decided that that bright flood pattern just won't do on a cloudy day as a "driving light", and no real good DOT yellow pods went on sale, so, it was time for a switcheroo. That's what I made those new brackets for yesterday. What's yellow, will be the white DOT cut-off fogs, and vice-versa.

    20201212_124500.jpg

The new brackets got bent so that the mounting arm actually faces back in the cutout, and THIS time I just about got it perfect. Almost.

    20201212_143434.jpg

I thought I put matching connectors on all those wires the last time I did this, and I DID! Plug and play almost. And function check is good.

    20201212_150349.jpg

The extension on the back is so that I can get enough of the pod out of the cutout to actually adjust the level. The inside hex is tightened "firm", and the outside lets me adjust then tighten down.

    20201212_155711.jpg

So, all the wiring put away and wrapped up again, and I won't have to work in the rain and wind tomorrow.

    20201212_155701.jpg

And, there. I did a truck thing again this week.

Did you use a latex or oil base on the door? I got a new sprayer that I used to stain the fence - new Thompson stain looks like oil, but cleans like latex. That was handy.

latex behr premium paint, iirc $190 bucket/ $42 gallon, I used the same paint and color the previous home owner used, the house built in 94, received its 3rd coat and the garage built in 03, received its second coat of paint.

    Good Morning SA.

Didn’t think we had rain chances today, oh well. Later in the afternoon I will be picking up and delivery some furniture, donated by a church member for needy family.

other than that, trying to keep things low key for most of the day.

what type of smoker do you use?

I need a log splitter, but not $1300 to $1500 cost, I need to keep expenses down until I write that check for the property, I might need to rent one for a day and get after it, or better yet and barter, and give bbq wood/firewood away, I have probably 2 cords of seasoned hickory logs. If not, we must just have some nice large bon fires.

I got this one from Academy. Great for the price and perfect for my space challenged cooking area. I can cook far more than we would ever eat by ourselves with all the shelves. I'm still learning the temp control venting - after a while, the ash fills the bottom, and airflow changes a lot. I think I can get a metal bucket for live ash dump and cure that tho. I'm happy after 3 cooks. Got the cover for it as well.

Nice, is the upright shelves large enough for a full-size brisket? Also, if you need some free hickory let me know, but I really need a way to split these larger pieces. After I acquire the property, I will have Mesquite, Huisache, Texas ebony and little bit of oak, I don’t plan on cutting down any oaks, but there are a few that are already dead.

My smoker was too old and rusted out, so it went off to the scrap yard, I won a small light weight smoker from a cornhole tournament on base last year, I need to assemble it and use it or sell it and reinvest the money into a better smoker.7CE2B06B-B070-46A3-8B2E-5450C302AE60.jpg

My side by side smoker was starting to be an issue years ago, so wife got me a gas grill (too much $$) that turned out to be a pain in the ass grill. Could not keep smoker because it took all that space, so I gave it to her friends sister. Then found a damaged Weber 22 at Wal-Mart for $25 because of a dent. But all smoking had to be on the little 22, and that's hard. So, this year gave that to my neighbor, and got this one.

We did our 14 lb Thanksgiving turkey on the smoker, and it will certainly hold a larger one. I'm sure a normal store packed brisket will fit if you don't turn it sideways. I will know in January when I try my hand at one again! It's just been us for about 6 years, and that's too much. But I have the younger son home for now, so he'll help eat! Here's the Thanksgiving bird.
