It's Thursday! Don't scare me like that!

Hell ya it does. October is the best time to go to the beach, imo

Planning on taking the new truck down once I get off the next hitch. Probably the last weekend of October.

Hola SA!, thanks for checking @hoverlover ! Coming and going....so catch up time! First, because. There is a former Valero station that is being reopened as a Sunoco in nowhere Maxwell. They seem to think something is important, and I've never quite seen it like this....

So, I wasted a lot of time erranding yesterday chasing down a new Lowe's web product description. Wanted a little bench grinder and wire wheel (separate) to clean up some parts. Should have been 3 to choose from in San Marcos - one beat up open box, no wheel. Got my haircut, looked up Kyle Lowe's at lunch. Should have three to choose from. And wheels "low in stock". Have the one model, no wheels. Grinders read in fine print "In Stock (for pickup October 3)". Wheels? Finally got help. Nope - don't have them. Theat's certainly "Low in Stock". Let me check - "no one in Central Texas has them, and none on order". Put the grinder back. Get home, and find I can actually buy one AND a wire wheel at Home Depot in Austin - so ordered for pickup after Autonation RAV service.

So early to Austin for the RAV. Pull in right on time. The usual advisor comes out to check on me - my Toyota Care is not expired, so what do we have to do. He checks. I'm at about 12.5K, and last time I was there we did 15K. So. Nothing. Could rotate tires - how long? 3K. OK, no. Push the buttons and reset it! Fastest service ever. Hobble in to Hope Depot, pick up my stuff, and head home. Rest my butt/leg which is killing me for an hour. Mow and trim yard.

Go set up my little grinder and brush, put the bolts in brake kleen, and hit them with the new spinning brush! Not going to put greasy stuff back on!

Got some new drill wheels too, and went after the thermostat housing.

    20220927_131311.jpg
    20220929_153949.jpg

Got on the front of the block best as I could. It'll do.

    20220929_155854.jpg

Amazon lost my idler/tensioner wheels that should have been here yesterday. They don't show up, the old ones will be cleaned and go back on - nothing wrong with them. Have a new thermostat to go on too. Now that I have mowed, I have all day tomorrow to patiently put things back together.

Well, maybe my little "chat" with Amazon last night paid off.... Will I see my replacement idlers today?

    upload_2022-9-30_9-38-0.jpg

Original tracking was they put it on a truck to Austin from Kyle - then covered that trail with "delayed". In the chat, she told it "it would be delivered" - so then you DO know where it is? "No, but I have escalated your issue". I told them I wanted to see SOMETHING in my tracking today - lost or otherwise!

Well, FML. They put on an actual truck at 11am. So, I kinda' dawdle along, clean and install to the point I'm ready for the idler. "Your package is now scheduled for delivery today. Between 5 and 8. We'll, not knowing what failed (though I'm pretty sure it was pump), do I install the old after all this? Guess I'll wait and start early tomorrow, new or old. My work is all shiny though.

Just the idlers right? If the old ones spin freely and don't make any weird noises, I'd throw the old ones on and run it to check for leaks. Then put the new ones on when they get there.

Idlers and tensioner pulleys - yes. All were "fine" when rotated on the engine. I would just prefer to do this once, at the pace I work. And it made sense to replace everything involved while I was here. Thermostat sure didn't cause it, but new one is in.

All that resistance in the pulley - I'm SURE that it wasn't the fan clutch - could have been chunks of burned rubber behind the pulley, though it sounded more metallic to me. LOTS of burned rubber had to be removed from all the grooved pulleys. I can't recreate load, so I have to assume one of those things didn't like it. The belt is fugly, has a couple cuts, and a straight break.

Believe me, I thought long about just putting the old on this afternoon, but since it was "on a truck", I though I'd get my package. Tomorrow, what I have goes on. Regardless.

Stoopid stuff showed up while I was getting pizza. It's intact. I'm not replacing the tensioner itself - no bottom access right now, and nothing wrong with that. It has plenty of spring....
