hey nic, I hear the Marines are hiring!

I took the SAFD entrance exam last fall, made a 76, the cut off score is 85, if I remember correctly.

well over 4,000 people attended the test. So you can imagine how competitive it is.

At the time I was studying for 5 different final exams, so I barely made time to study for the FF exam, which I really regret. I got a 75 without much studying for it, so I can only imagine what I would have gotten if I did really study for it. :(

"long" posts from phone suck!

oh ya, that was including the 5 points. Haha

ima study for it this year though.

mowgli, I'm sure you'll get through it with out a problem!

So I checked the SAFD website just now and saw that they updated the 2011 Fire entrance exam draft elegibility list...I was suprised to find out that my name is on it...along with almost 2,000 other names.

    http://www.sanantonio.gov/safd/PDFs/Recruiting/2011 Updated Draft Fire list.pdf

I'm # 808 on the list. Oh and I mad an 80 on the test WITH the 5 vet points. :)

I'm gonna look more into this, and see what else needs to be done, apart from getting ready for the CPAT. I would hate to fall short on an opportunity like this, as I thought I had.

THis has given me hope though!

yep I can do a 14.3 in the 1/4 with a 2.0second 60ft, with the upcoming mods I'm hoping to touch the 13's.

It wasnt the rear main seal it was the the last injector seal for the spark plug, but no fixed yet lol
Haha just get some! $300 for the pair isn't bad, plus I'm selling the hood, current fenders, old set of headlights and some sidesteps so I'm really paying nothing, then once I get the fenders I'm get the prerunner style bumper made

Take advantage and get a fire job ASAP. I regret deeply letting my fire cert lapse. Been stuck on the EMS side for the last 7yrs. Been great experience though.

I took my EMT course at Sac through the degree side and had no issues! Of course that was back in 05. I always heard the EMT course wasn't great at all through the CE side.

I've been trying for years now and it does suck how competitive it is. Very tough hiring process but ya just can't give up. I'm 130 on the list & praying it gets me somewhere this year. I just passed the Cpat on Tuesday so now just waiting for the next phase.

I'm about to bombard you with some questions! :D

How was the CPAT exam? I hear its the part that weeds out most.

How did you prep for it? I've been wanting to go so I can try it out.

Did they call you to schedule it, or how does that part work?

    Are ya excited?! :D

It's not bad if your cardio is good. Hardest part is just the first 3mins 20secs cause of the stair master with 75lbs on you. It does weed out some people but I hate the fact that they allow a retest if one fails the 1st attempt. The part that really weeds out folks is the personal history statement and background check

How did you prep for it? I've been wanting to go so I can try it out.

I ran a lot, lifted some mild weights here and there since you have to drag a 165lb dummy.

Did they call you to schedule it, or how does that part work?

You have to keep up with the website throughout the process. All the info is there for the Cpat part of it.

    Are ya excited?! :D

Yes & no. I've done the Cpat several times and been passed this point. It's the waiting game that sucks. If you don't have a low enough ranking number, it's pretty much better luck this year.

Well I went venturing a bit at culebra creek just to check out the area. I couldn't believe how much trash people dump down there. On my way out my dumbass managed to fall into a somewhat of a hole. Caught me off guard, opened the door and my sidestep was at ground level. Reversed outta there in 4x4 and I don't think I did any damage. Hope I didn't.
