What’s going on everyone? I did the smart thing (for my wallet) and got off TW a couple of years ago when I got my truck dialed in how I wanted. Unfortunately it was totaled in a car accident back in Feb and I’ve abandoned hope of getting another taco. That being said I’m getting rid of the car parts I managed to rip out of it before I turned it over so here’s a list of things for sale:

    All parts for 3rd gen:
4x innovations steel front skid plate & trans skid plate - $250 obo
I never sprayed the trans plate and it has surface rust but nothing major

WeatherTech floor liners 1st/2nd row - $100 obo

Relations Race Wheels hidden winch mount - $200 obo
There’s a notch I grinded at the top because it was rubbing a coolant line. Can send pics if interested.

I also have the brand new factory floor mats if anyone’s interested

I’m holding on to my smittybilt winch in hopes of getting a 1st gen tundra and mounting it on that but if anyone’s interested I’ll listen to offers

Been a long time since I’ve been here. So caught up with work, life a new home. The old girl just stayed dependable but got no love. About a month ago she forced me to start paying attention again. Just made a post on “windshield channel rust repair.”

Has anyone in San Antonio ever gotten their Tacoma inspected for frame rust? I know rust isn't a big thing here but my truck is originally from Maryland and spent time in Virginia and Arkansas before I got it. To me, the frame looks good from the inside and out (I used a scope camera) but would still like to get it checked at a dealer since I haven't past the expiration date since my truck was actually sold new in 2013.

I understand that I am covered. Just wondering what the experience was like getting something like this done in an area where rust isn't a concern or the least of our concerns. I haven't attempted to go to a local dealer yet but I expect push back to even get an inspection done.

Just bring em the letter you got and they’ll be happy to do corporate warranty. If you can fit a 10mm Allen wrench in a rusted hole, new frame.

Not so sure if they will be happy to do it. I never liked any of the dealers in San Antonio and really prefer not to use any of them.

I don't see any rusted holes or any rust inside the frame with a scope camera but still felt this should be performed and documented at a dealer.

If there ain’t no holes, then you won’t get a new frame or anything else out of it.

Never said I am looking for a new frame or anything else replaced. Actually would prefer the opposite and keep things as is if there is no issue.

Just looking to keep my documentation in order in case there is an issue down the road.

Some dealerships might entertain ya. Just give one a call and ask. I mean they already do a free 200 something point inspection. (At least when I took mine 10 years ago.)

If you don’t want to do all that, crawl under that thing and snap some pics if there is an area that concerns you and post them here.

So got a new windshield put in on AUG 16th. It looked great, I let it sit for about a week without touching it… IMG_6421.jpg
    IMG_6422.jpg
Then we got some rain Monday and this is what I come home to find. This was good when installed, trust I checked it out 100 times… waited a week then drove it.
Yes there was tape put on but some how, some way this windshield slid down.
Luckily this time I went with Safelite so they’re coming out again Friday to try again.
O and in that bottom photo, that’s my headliner pulled down and looking at where windshield meets truck. That’s daylight you’re seeing through that tab.

Welp, figured out the issue. I have and still do suck at spray painting. I was rushing against nighttime humidity and likely laid coats on too thick. The thickness and humidity combined didn’t allow the lower layers to cure properly, leaving the paint tacky, so much so it gums up when removed.

Huge disappointment on my end. I NEEDED to get this done, did all the prep in the world, then rushed the application.
The tacky top coat of clear didn’t allow the urethane for the windshield to adhere properly and that’s what led to it sliding. So the windshield tech had to basically remove 90% of what I did and apply the primer they use for the urethane to stick.
