some yes, but im not worried about them anymore really as I've chosen a different venture to pursue (still within LE). Ive been waiting the longest for Port of san Diego maintenance worker 1(would be absolutely stoked if I got that), forest service laborer, and forest service maintenance. All entry level positions.

thought about it, never really check for openings though. Uncle used to work for them years ago, he was working out of the Chula vista yard.

When I fill out these apps I just don't have the "work" experience required for the entry level positions "1 year of construction or maintenance experienced required for this position" I thought it was entry level... I know I can perform any task given to me with ease.

Its just that on my resume it looks like I don't know how to do didly squat lol Ive got years of life guarding and customer service under my belt that's about it hahahaha I don't wanna lie on the questionnaire they always give... but hey whatta you do, its a catch 22 of sorts.

Its just really discouraging seeing people who are complete idiots get hired for jobs ive applied for....my pops has worked for the city in a maintenance position for 20+ years and my god you'd shit yourself if you saw/talked/ heard the stories about some of the people that are in his department......complete fucking idiots lol

my dad, uncle and grandpa all work (my grandpa is retired) for (at?) the SD port, my dad's a clerk (checks the trucks in and out of the lot) for dole (he was a mechanic for MTC but he ruptured a disk in his back and bulged another disk while working), my uncle works for SSA as a mechanic, and my grandpa was just a A-man (i think).

my cousin tried to get onto the list for the hiring hall, but there's like 1,000 people ahead of him, he put his name on when he turned 18, he'll turn 20 in september and he still hasn't heard from them.

sorry for rambling, i reckon i just felt like yapping for a little.

I'm talking about the actual port district of San diego it's a local gov. job. I believe your talking about Longshoreman work no? Small world my dads bestfriend is a longshoreman right there off 32nd-28th street, he got into it because his dad was a longshorman and commercial tuna fisherman. Guy makes BANK! I told him if his sons or daughters don't want his job when he retires give me the damn application. I'll gladly take a lowly position as a longshoreman and work my way up the ladder. The ILWU is one of the strongest unions around.

Yeah, i'm talking about longshore work, i didn't know there was a separate GOV. port district.

it's a great deal if you can get in, but i never really had interest in it.

You have no idea. We've had 3 temps and the only one that is a good work is the only one that hasn't been hired
