You probably won't get 2.75 to 3" with the 885x + 5100 set up set at 0" perch with your truck. I got 2.65" with that exact setup on my prerunner, so the extra 4x4 weight up front isn't going to help you out. You will only have 2 options, preload the 5100 to .85 and you will be slightly over 3" (more than likely the ride will be pretty rough and jarring. Or you can put a spacer on the top which will more than likely yield the same experience.

Thats funny, cause greg has the 885x with the 5100's set at "0" and he had a little over 3 inches of lift up front and they only settle to about 2.75 and he is a prerunner and him a doug did measuements before and after! i wanna say that he is just slightly under 3 inches. But i guess everyones individual results are always different. at least that is what it seems like on the site!

The 885Xs brought me up to 3" or more and settled at about 2.75- I'm not about to jump into minus or plus a couple millimeters, but I can say I'm fuckin pleased. I do remember talking with DSM and I'm pretty sure they told me NOT to set my coils to anything other than 0 with the 885Xs- or I would have already done so for a little more lift that I so desperately need.

What's funny? That Greg and I had a .1" difference in the height yielded by that set up? The difference between Greg and I was .1", but the TRD Offroad has a heavier curb weight than the TRD Sport, so I'm sure that plays a part.

Chris has a 4x4 so he has an extra 400lbs up front over Greg and I. So yes that will cause quite a bit of sag even if the 885x's are pre sagged. Quite a few 4x4's with that set up state they get around 2.25" to 2.5".

They should push you towards the 2.75 or 3" mark. It will be a much stiffer ride as the spring rate is higher than the 885x coils.

Now I can't remember seeing anyone putting 886's on a 5100. Maybe sell the 5100's with the stock coil and get the OME Nitro Charger shock with the 885X and trimpacker to give you a true 3" lift?

I've went through many different setup's and if I had to do it all over again and didn't end up going with the coilovers I would get the OME setup.

Thats what he says! I would just go with the 886 so there will be no issues with not getting the lift your looking for!

Talked to dsm and they said don't go with 886 there isn't enough weight even being 4x4. He said he gets an avg of 2.75-3 inches if lift with 885x and that's prerunnrs and 4x4., he said he guaranteed it will be more than 2.5 after settling

Get 886s if you plan on running an off-road bumper in the near future.

Got confused and decided to hit DSMS with an email so you don't get something that won't work out for ya, Chris. They're telling me they're strongly against setting a 4x4 up with 5100s at the .85 setting. This will cause the truck to go well above 3" and will cause problems with your CV angles. He agreed that 885Xs will do very well for you.

Interesting now I typically don't even question DSM as they tend to know more than anyone I've spoke to, but this isn't the typical response from the multiple threads on this forum on member experience.

In my opinion I wouldn't throw money at the 5100's trying to make them better.

Yeah I agree. A preload will Fuck shit up. But he guaranteed me that the 885x will give me 3" and when settled it would be more than 2.5. He told me not to get 886s. It will ride real ruff. I asked about the preload as well and he said the same thing Greg did. With a guarantee gotta go with the 885x will check on them today.
