This is the place where I got my SnugTop. It’s in Kearny Mesa area and they do a great job. Not sure about being the least expensive though.

Well, I was just about to recommend Valley Camper in Escondido, which is where I bought my Snugtop, but just saw that they closed down on March. That’s a shame. I think they had been in business for 40+ years.

I purchased my Snugtop shell from So Cal Truck as well. Their price was lower than any other shop.
I have had them price match items as well.

Anybody know of a good local detailer? Looking to get some of my "desert pinstripes" worked on as well as a total exterior detail...

He can do the clay work to get rid of your pinstripes. I haven't used him yet, but he's done some work with my neighbors and they are happy with him.

So.. I see that some long-travel companies offer uniball lowers instead of bushings.. wouldn't uniball lowers be more of a pain to maintain as far as keeping lubricated? Most bushing-based lowers have zerks for greasing but with a uniball there I can see so much debri getting in there and fucking shit up.

    Do you mean heims?

Uniballs are in replacement of ball joints.

Heims are in replacement of bushings.

Aside from better adjustability, I don't know the advantage/disadvantage to them.

Wild! I haven't looked at their stuff in awhile, or maybe when I was looking I didn't know what I was looking at. They're doing uniballs for the Tacoma kit too.

Interested to see what's said about the lubrication thing. I hit mine on my UCAs with dry-lube as needed.

    Kinda stock
It's about a wash between the 2. The bushings tend to squeak over time and go out of round. Bit more expensive to take care of uniballs.
Uniballs are going to a more rigid connection while the bushings can flex. They both last about the same amount of time.

    Total Chaos uses polyurethane lower
    Camburg uses uniball lowers
    Dirt King uses delrin lowers.
Some of the different types. Comes down to whatever is your style. All are good kits.

Yea, the maintenance is the main thing I'm worried about with uniball lowers.

Also, has anyone done Claw Hammer in Johnson Valley? I'm going to take the Tundra out there Friday morning with a guy with a 3rd-gen Tacoma that's solid-axled on 40s. If anyone wants to join, let me know.

Any suggestions on pressing this metal sleeve back up into the spindle?

We rented a c clamp style Ball joint tool, but it’s a bit too large and won’t fit. Nothing else in the area to rent. No claw type tools either.

Should look like this, with a circlip at the top

Haven't been on here for a while. Figured I would give a shop update for anyone who is interested. Looks like we are 3-4 weeks away from being done. Contractor is (so far) doing a kick ass job.
