I was only half joking about running those trails. I seem to be the only one who is willing to do both next weekend and being it's a birthday trip for a buddy, I'm just kind of along for the ride. lol Couldn't even say where they are planning on camping until I'm heading up Friday afternoon.

Oh, gotcha! I got excited for a second. Hopefully you can convince them to do at least one of them!

That's the goal! I understand your excitement! I've ran both trails and it's always a good time. May just make for a long day depending on who is in the group.

If anyone wants to plan something for a weekend to do either (or both) of those trails we would be interested. When we did Gold Mtn we just showed up at the trailhead and joined a guy who was looking for a group to join as well. But neither of us had done it before so ended up missing a section of it so we want to do that one again too at some point.

Nice, well if I am in town that weekend I may be able to do a daytrip, but fawk that Jeep gets worse mileage than your guys Tacomas, lol!

DO it!! Hydro clutch is so much nicer!! I was riding my MT-10 in the mountains yesterday and was thinking about converting that as well for a smoother clutch.
Im also getting a new racebike (2021 YZ450FX) which comes with a cable clutch that I may also convert since I do a lot of technical riding where I use the clutch A LOT! Those cable clutches start getting hard to hold and pull after 3 hours of doing that...

Haha I ended up finding a dealership up in Washington that had one clutch cable for my bike left, gonna be installing it today, as it seems a pretty easy fix. But I think i'm going to look into the hydraulic upgrade in the near future, everyone I've spoken to about it recommends upgrading.

They are a worthy upgrade, on a street bike maybe not as much due to the amount of clutching necessary but still a really nice improvement. I love the hydraulic clutch on my Husky 300, far superior to a cable clutch.

Yeah i'm definitely thinking i'm gonna make that upgrade down the line, just wanted to do a quick repair for now that should last until I pony up the funds for it. This past week has been the longest time I've spent not riding since I got the bike. I'm aching to get back on it lol.

Managed to replace the clutch cable last night, just gotta do a little final testing tonight to make sure the tension/slack is right.

I'm a weirdo. I like cables. It's like you can feel the clutch disc and springs better. More raw connected feeling. Hydraulic is smooth shit but it feels like there is a condom between my fingers and my clutch.

Cables are great until the 3rd hour of a hard enduro competition after about 12,000 clutch pulls it starts to get a little difficult, lol.

Anybody have a 3d printer? I just ordered one so it should be a fun learning curve! So many materials and alloys I have no fucking idea where to start, probably just get standard black PLA filament and braille by way through it hopefully not killing the machine!
I should get it by tomorrow!
I ordered a Voxlab Aquila 3d and can use any advice anyone has, I have no idea what Im doing yet!

My bro in law has some experience with this, he works on EV's but is up in PDX. It's good for prototyping things, especially interior, but you want to use filament which can handle heat OK. Probably others here who can advise directly. You can spend a bunch of time fine-tuning the fill and heat settings, but if you grab from thingaverse you can just use other people's stuff which is more battle tested.

    It's a legit skill.

I got one I have the Ender 3 pro and it super fun to use and print parts. I definitely recommend learning 3D modeling if you don't already know how to, it makes the printer so much more useful. But you can always find pre modeled parts if ya don't know how.

Haha I'm good after an trail ride or track day. Just ride for the fun of riding.

I got 3 printers at work. They are fun. Handful of parts on my truck are 3d printed.

ASA and nylon/carbon fiber are awesome materials.
Pla is a good learning plastic

I have an Ender 3 and use Cura for a slicer. Check out Fusion360 for CAD stuff (free version available). Really cool once you get settings and calibrations correct, then you can pop in a file, click print and let it rip!

Pla and petg are gonna be what you print with the most. You might get into abs or asa a little bit, but the largest you'll reliably print with those is about the size of a coke can, you'll see a lot of warping and cracking when you go bigger than that with those filaments.

As for the printer, it wouldn't have been my first choice. Most Chinese clones tend to be hobby printers. They'll lay down plastic, but you'll find yourself having to tinker, upgrade, and troubleshoot as often as you will be printing with it. This often leads to them sitting in the corner gathering dust or becoming a full blown hobby instead of a tool.
