    Chula Vista strip (Energy way) and theres a few others out there but I use Craigslist to call around. Not many tacomas in worthy condition body wise. Seems like they all have front corner collisions lol

    Again, thank you guys for your time and input.

    In the end, my end goal is to see what engine parts I can remove/buy or whatever comes to mind on whatever I have in mind to build and/or do.

    If you spot a 4-dr 2nd gen silver Taco, let me know. Might need a rear pass door.

    Do a quick search on that site. Some keep a good record of what they have. Found a stepside tailgate that way. Not an easy find. Also shows condition and photos if they are really good.

    @erice I have searched and found some doors on Car Parts. I am in no hurry and prefer to check out the goods in person before purchase whenever I can. Plus, I enjoy looking at smashed up cars.

    You and me both. "Is that blood?" "Wonder if they survived"
    If it wasn't a holiday weekend I would go do some looking. I'll have time next week for sure. I need to find a clip for an air box. I'm over my zip tie mod

    So, trying not to beat a dead horse here... So these are places that you can still bring whatever tools (i.e. toolbox, tool bucket, etc) and literally walk on the junkyard, look for a car to take apart, and then buy that part as you exit?

    Back in the day, I used to go to Ecology a LOT and do just that. But we're talking YEARS AGO!!! I would like to start doing this again soon looking for truck parts whether engine related or interior related (i.e. a-pillars, etc).

    @WileECoyote I presume so. I am in the same boat - visiting wrecking yards when I was a starving student. I wonder if the entry fee has gone up. Many charged a buck to enter whether you bought something or not. Thus, I always filled my pockets with bulbs and screws and other little shit.

    Yeah, mine was the same. It was like $1 or something like that to enter whether you buy or not, but that was just to enter the yard.

    I'd go in carrying a 5gal bucket of tools, most common tools used, and one would be very surprised you need very little "specialty type tools" in order to dismantle a vehicle.

    HAHAHA, 8mm and 10mm are QUITE the COMMON sizes!!! :rolleyes::laughing::laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl:

    @WileECoyote @Chuy
    So there are both. Lqk or whatever it is, is the new ecology. 2$ pull your own and scan the car you pulled it from. They have an import lot and a domeatic lot. Set prices now on parts (regardless of co condition) from what I recall. Tried getting a rack and rails from a van and they wanted as much as a new one. But a lexus steering wheel was 50$ so... yeah

    The others will let you scour the lots and sometimes pull the part if they are cool with it. But can help you get big stuff or more complex shit if need be. Some are sticklers. Hit or miss.

    Not sure if they still have the "Premium" area where the newer stuff is and the prices are considerably higher.
