Cal Trans has closed all roads heading to/from Big Bear.

Going to check out Rattlesnake Canyon and see how bad things are.

You might have an easier time coming up Coxey rd (3n14) from Hesperia. From what I’ve seen its a little more tame than Rattlesnake which will help in deep ass snow

Was considering that as well. Definitely less elevation change. Would require driving up the grapevine which is less than ideal.

Are those 35's? I just got a brand new set of chains for 35's if you'd like to borrow them.

We are on the mountain already. Thank you for the offer though! @Prayn4surf hooked me up with a set of chains.

Palomar Mountain yesterday. They didn't check me for chains since I'm 4wd but brought them just in case

Great photo of Palomar at the upper junction. If you were to head west toward Doan Valley campground there is a spot on the ridge where I used to launch my Hanglider way back in the early 70's to land at the base of the mountain. (50 years ago and 50lbs.!) If you happened to overshoot the landing zone and landed across the road the property owner used to come out with his shotgun to let us know we weren't welcome. (Man, I've got some great stories about flying back then and the characters I used to fly with) NO helmets, no parachutes, no license required! I wonder if the Doan Valley campground is closed?

From what I saw, most of the entrances to the lookout spots or unused campgrounds and such were not plowed so access might be an issue unless you wanna hoof it

My boyfriend and I tried to get up there via Nate Harrison Grade yesterday but about 2 miles from the top was a traffic jam due to a stuck 4Runner and a Ram that kept getting stuck trying to pull it out. At least 15 vehicles deep. So we had to turn around and go back down.
