Wut up Nick!!!

MAN brother, FINALLY moved closer to work!!! No more approx 5.5hr daily driving to/from work. Now it's only about 1hr total driving per day. Plus, less wear tear on the car.

Starting to "unpack" and setting things back up.

Going to be busy for the next approx 6months with what I need to complete for work.

After that, it should be smooth from there... for the most part.

How have you been? We gotta do the peak again, but it will have to wait until then for me. I was actually going to go to San G, but even a day is taking a lot away from what I need to get done so it is what it is for now. Plus, my lower ball joints are starting to scare me!!! I bought some "Pro Forged" lower ball joints a while back, but need a place to install them? I may do it here on base they have a garage you can take your vehicle to work on yourself. So I may try that out some day.

Anyways, I've been pretty busy this whole time.

I just now parked at work. it's like 4:30am

Glad I was able to help, took a little time to find that 2nd leak but once I found it I had some O-rings on hand to replace it with. Let me know if you ever need anything in the future.

 

Finally taking a little time to work on my super antique house since its over 100 degrees down at the shop at the moment so I'll work on the trucks later when it cools down.
So my house was built in 1932, or at least the bottom portion was anyway. It looks to originally be a square 2 story layout since the property at one time was an orchard based on the location of the house being at the absolute corner of the plot and has an old Dutch style front door, it's the type that has the top and bottom able to open separately so they could sell produce etc out the top portion when opened.

I figured I would start with doing an upgrade on the stairs since a bunch of the tread boards were cracked and or loose, and the stair stringer was also cracked and just old and damaged, and every step sounds like a haunted house with creeks and pops. So as usual when I go into these types of projects it ALWAYS turns into 5x the work as expected, however that is also due to my OCD of not being able to leave things as good enough because I just can't help myself. That's great news for any of my customers since I treat all my automotive jobs the same way. My motto is, no half assing allowed! Full ass only

As I start to pull things apart I quickly realize that I'm going to have to rebuild the entire damn thing from scratch, so much for a quick tread/riser upgrade. Whoever did the work on this place was a total hack unfortunately so I have to take most of it out and start over but at least that allows me to make it the right way rather than slapping a band aid on it.

I also have to address the exterior at some point but that is going to be the largest rabbit hole ever since the house was originally covered in cedar shingles, and later down the road someone decided to put aluminum horizontal siding over it so my walls measured from the drywall on the inside of the house to the outermost layer is approx 12-13" thick, lol. I was going to replace the windows at some point but I'll have to do the exterior first since that will certainly affect how I frame them in..

Boy I sure wish I had an extra pre-trained Jason around here! Haha.

Anyway that's my random progress report, hope everyone is doing well out there!

 

The Truck Shop rebuilt my rear kings after a few strenuous offroading trips that caused some damage to the shafts. No complaints and seemed decently priced.

I bet Jason here could do it for you even quicker and just as fairly priced.

 

Jeez, you really are a man of many talents haha. I hope to be even half as capable as you are one day.

 

Youtube has allowed me to do things I would have never attempted myself.
Or no way I'm doing that much work. I'll pay someone.

Glad to hear you got that commute cut down! Hope SD is treating you well . I’m alright, life has been up and downs recently, currently on a down but I’ll bounce back .
Bought a tundra recently, sold the silver taco a month or so ago, and now the red taco is up for sale. Although it just tripped the knock sensor PO325, perfect timing haha.
The LBJs aren’t a bad job, just need a good puller. I broke the autozone puller like 5 times doing mine haha. If you do decide to come up to San G let me know, you could crash at my site!

Well I appreciate the kind words but Im just old and still motivated so I am inclined to learn how to do everything and more. Haha, Ok now let's be real I am a cheap ass so in order to save money I simply learn how to do everything (or at least most things myself) Since I majored in Mechanical engineering, automotive tech/ diesel tech and Tig/Mig/stick welding (all processes) I tend to just keep pushing, the more you know the more you realize you are behind the curve. That being said I am not easily satisfied as far as knowledge goes. It is literally a self-eating prophecy where as the further I get the more I realize Im too far behind.
Yeah so maybe I am a tad overclocked in some regards but if we get hit with a huge EMP and google dies then I feel as though I will be ok, haha..
I'm so stoked on the friends I have made here and even though I tend to be very isolated due to my actions I still appreciate what many of you have done for me when asked. Lots of super awesome people here and so glad I was able to be part of it.
Ok back to working on the stairs, gonna be a lot of work..but hopefully it will be worth it!

So I went to go see my Orthopedic surgeon yesterday and decided to take my MT-10 dressed for hot weather only to come out from my appt to go to the imaging center in the gnarliest downpour I have seen in a while.
Good lord was it was slippery!! Oil on the roads coupled with water makes it exciting to say the least, especially on a bike that makes 160hp at the rear tire. I was glad for the very first time that I actually I had traction control, haha.. (We don't have a street bike Emoji so that's the best I got!!)

 

We just got a few light showers out here in El Cajon- just enough to wash the dust off everything.

 

The rain was a nice break in the heat, but now it is humid, lol.

 

can't trust these weather reports man. I did the same a couple months ago, was supposed to be clear skies so I ran an errand up to Orange County on my bike. Soon as I got through Oceanside it was pissing rain. Made it home safe about 2 hours later, fully soaked from head to toe with a nice puddle in my boots lol

I wish I even got that lol. In Pacific Beach we got just enough of a drizzle for the dust to group up and make the truck look even worse

 

Might get interesting in the local desert.

 

Washes are going to get destroyed.

I Hear 8"-10"s of rain in some areas Sat-Mon...

 

I'm thinking of bringing a rod and reel to Fish Creek and trying to catch some desert pupfish, after they rehydrate of course.
