If it is a poleline access road i might be able to get a real key for the gate/s. Permission for access on the other hand is another story.

 

i'll drop a letter in the guys mail box asking where he got permission. (if he got any)

I'm heading out to Ocotillo tomorrow morning with about 10 of my friends and staying until Friday morning. Hopefully we don't freeze

yep, it's 45 degrees right now in lakeside.

 

We filled half my truck bed up with wood and we still have a little more. If its really that bad, I'm sleeping in my truck and the rest of the people can fend for themselves.

Yeah I've got what is supposed to be an SDG&E key for remote site entrance (fancy term for "I've got a key for the gate." haha) Never used it, but I'm real leary about entering an area unfamiliar to me in regards to being a "legal" access, thats why I'll never go to Lawrence Welk/Drug airport place alot of the N. county guys go to, by all accounts its illegal to be out there but is weakly enforced

(that is until I give in & go there, which of course a whole Sheriff's Dept. would be there waiting for me)

The way that little trail switchbacks up the mountain its gotta be fun

 

We're bringing my truck, a GMC sierra, and 2 VW things. We've done this the past 2 years around the same time, just its never been this bad of weather when we went out. Hopefully its a fun trip

 

i'll figure out a way to be really polite or something, (or i could just leave your number in the note) yep, absolutely not on the trespassing.

the ONLY place i've figured out it's ok to trespass is at the lake across the road.

if anyone needs a good place to chill in the summer just head to the lake over here.
i am in NO way saying you should trespass. btw

 

It can be chilly, as long as the wind isn't blowing like hell its tolerable

I'm def. more "cold" tolerable & quite a bit less tolerable of the heat as I've gotten older

 

I know some other poleline roads just north of the 52 that can be opened by that sdge key doug...

 

Desert camping in the winter is the best. Can't beat a good campfire.

That seems fine Jake, the only suggestion would be to leave out "Is there any way a truck could get past the gate." kind of thing, I/you will make that determination ... (providing permission is granted of course)

I take everyone's opinion with a grain of salt as to difficulty of an obstacle, i have to see it for myself

 

Is that a trail off Willow road or something?

 

There used to be a trail off Willow that went all the way up to Steltzer Park on Wildcat cyn. That was my choice escape route when the cops broke up our parties in the fields out on Dairy rd. back in high school.
