but they're so expensive (at least what i can find) for the vw transaxles, i'm also leaning towards a LSD because a lunchbox locker would tear up the tires on the street.

Don't know the budget, but the LS I have was around 300 and you are probably changing gears at the same time. It is rated at 90%. I can feel the tires slipping on the pavement. They don't chirp, but I'm sure I'm having tire wear.

And I would love to go to alaska or somewhere other than an island on the other side of the pond that is 20 min from my house, but you mentioned a tour. Thats not sitting around, so thats not their style. LOL They normally pay for it, so atleast it doesn't cost much.

Last time I went, my brother-in-law and I rode bikes to the store, picked up a back pack of booze, got hammered and rode the bikes in the 3 hole golf course at the house they rented and played redneck polo. That day was good.

the basic "tour" ( i think that's what they called it) was basically, we'll provide transportation, and hotels (lodges), and you get to pick what tours you want to do or you can stay at the lodge all day and drink hot-chocolate.
when we went we left my grandparents at the lodge and we went and did a 4 wheeler tour.
if you ever get up to alaska there's a hot springs that has a ice carving attraction by it, you can drink shots from a ice glass, you can see full-size knights on horses made of ice. it's really cool.

I've already planned to do something when we go. It just sucks because I'm the only one that will go. That sounds cool, I've been to the hot springs in arkansas-fun.

I've seen an 87' 22r single cab toy pickup hauling a bed with 2 quads, a crap load of stuff and a trailer that had a 2 seater buggy with 3 dirt bikes and firewood on it.. did I mention the motor sounded like it had an exhaust leak!

I was at a loss of words and still am.

i think i'm gonna get all my general ed credits out here and do my specialty credits when we move.
the college back there doesn't have a heavy diesel technology course so i think i'm gonna take a marine mechanics course and graduate with a associates in marine mechanics.
i might go back part time to get a degree in something (not sure what i need to take) to be a fish and game warden.

but i definitely gonna try to get into something that i love and can do for the rest of my life.
    isn't the 22r like the 2.4?
