sounds like it was a heck of a fun run.

even the best runs have their fair share of fubar's and snafu's. (although some folks runs always seem to go off with out a hitch)

Folks were excited just wanted to get out there and roll thats understandable and really what its all about.

Just a little more calm and coordination added next time will make for a better experiance for everybody.

heres some ideas I have been shown that tend to make things run a little smoother.

Have a definitive start time and meeting place close to the trail head.

ie. meet at rangers station by 8:30 drivers meeting at 8:45 roll at 9:00

Have a definate purpose: convoy out to sand hills, play on dunes, overcome obstacles, get prerunners unstuck, convoy back.

a definitive return time.: back to trail head by dark then to camp for cold drinks

set up a few trail leaders . these guys should already know the trails pretty good and should pre run them prior to the outing, find bypasses for the tougher sections and know field conditions.

every one should have a recovery strap and 2-4.75 ton 3/4" screw pin shackles or at least immediate access to them. And be aware of his vehicles recovery points or lack thereof.

never let the driver behind you out of your sight. if you lose sight slow down or stop untill you see him or he catches up. this way no individual ever gets seperated, left behind or lost. that is unless everyone gets lost together which strangely enough happens all too often.

the leader should appoint a tail gunner who stays in last position and doesnt pass anyone ( except to possibly extract them from a stuck situation.) He is in close communication with the trail leader and lets him know when every one has made the turn, cleared the obstacle, crossed a certain waypoint, or if anyone has left the trail, broken down, gets stuck or joined the convoy.

Longer convoy lines can have several "waist gunners" waist gunner can move around the convoy to spot, do recoveries, lead bypasses notify leader of stuck situations, break downs ect.

Doing it this way no one gets lost or left, the less experianced folks get the guidance they need. the more experianced get to practice and revisit their skills through showing others the ropes, people get to know one another and naturally build comradery within the group. And it is much safer for everyone involved.

On a more personal Note. I dont know every thing in fact I know very little compaired to MANY others. However, what I do Know I was taught by others and I thank deeply them for that. There is always something new to learn about this game and always someone new to share it with. The main point is to have new experiances, seek out and see new places. Have fun and stay safe and share the great out doors with other like minded individuals.

im not complaining just co signing i was fine at the meet...

next meet will be better cant point fingers and blame everyone noones perfect...we love u steve haha...honestly though i appreciate ur meets so its all good

one thing for next time would be if we're all going in a line we should wait if some fall behind, get stuck, or just having difficulties getting through...the person in front knows where their going, the people in the back are just following. who knows maybe they might need help

at pine valley it took us hours to get through the end the people in front could of easily went home but they stayed and lent a hand for those in the back. thats team work, and thats what we need in trail runs. spotters, and fuckers jumping in the bed of ur truck when its about to tip over

Sirmarlon, well first off you take some awesome pics but i have to put my 2 cents in this, one thing is im not imtimadated by any ttora member what so ever you have your opinion but i heard the ttora guy bitch at what trails we were going to do and said it loud and clear for other people to hear it so your boy had attitude and didnt want to join our trail cool like i said before do your thang, something more challenging he held the attitude of the ttora name. as for the member saying he would never join ttora thats me and i stand by it not cause i hate it im just not all crazy 4x4 bad ass suspension guy i do this once in a good while cause of my busy schedule.

We told you we had Pre-Runners in our group and that we were pulling one out...what did you guys do...you drove by and then you kept going instead of stoping and asking if we needed a hand or anything...

So whatever...maybe you guys got intimidated by the TTORA guys or at least it seemed you didn't want to hang with us, it's in the past! I will have my pictures up as soon as I can! For the rest of the guys that hung with us...the 4runner/ LT Taco you guys are hella cool as well as Nick, Renee, and Noe

And for the guy who said he would never join TTORA you are missing out...if any of you want to know what it's like to really wheel your Taco and want to be taught the ropes then TTORA is the place for you. They don't just pose and drive...they wheel the shit out of there trucks! And that is how the cookie crumbles!!

Hey all clubs go through growing pains... This is normal when you get a bunch of trucks and adrenaline together.

Been there done that, ya know... I'm an old fuck and I've seen folks get hurt and I've seen runs go without a hitch. Remember Murphy lurks around the corner once you decide to hit the dirt. Always be prepared for the unexpected!

Well there are transport points which all vehicles have on the frame that can be used in a pinch if you have what is commonly called a transport or Frame Hook Cluster. (sometimes you can even fit a screw pin shackle into one of them) it is made to fit into these holes and tie vehicles down to their mode of transportation. ie train car, auto hauler ect.

they look like this

these holes are not as stout as a frame mounted recovery point by any means, but can be used in a pinch. I reccomend you use two such points when recovering a vehicle using this method and dont do any hard Yanking on them as you can bend the frame.

Pismo is pretty cool. It's one place where you can drive your truck on the beach (legally). There's camping spots there too. A friend took me down there one time at night in his 4x4. I've never been in the area off the beach though.

What's a good time of year for that area when it's not too crowded?
