    Glad to hear it man

did some damage to my rig this weekend. Went out to sandstone canyon in ocotillo wells, all stock. Definitely should have waited for my sliders and skids but oh well, what’s a couple battle scars

    Such a stupid thing tbh.

Went out wheeling sunday. put a decent beating on the truck. minor body damage but that's whatever, was alright with it. Found out halfway through the day my battery wasn't secured properly and whoever had upgraded didn't buy a proper length hook for it to be tightened down. So the whole day it had been sliding around it's space in the engine bay, and broke the hose which turns out to be the transmission fluid (didn't know that until diagnosed yesterday) as we were coming out. Booked it the hour and a half home, and the gears were toast by then, couldn't even get it up the driveway.

Bummer but that's life. gotta pay to play.

I'm actually kind of amazed that you got the truck home.

honestly me too. I did stop at a gas station right after getting off the trail and did my best to plug the cut with some rubber cement and hose tape.

If you aren't the kinda person to mess with transmissions, as most aren't, Aamco in Chula Vista did right by me on a replacement transmission.

appreciate the offer. I already had the truck towed to The Truck Shop in Miramar as I've seen em highly recommended on here, waiting on a quote but i'll definitely look into em.

Do you guys think i'm fine getting a low mileage used? Or should i just spring for a brand new one?

My truck got a rebuilt trans, as long as it is rebuilt by an experienced transmission mechanic you should be fine.

Next time something like that happens. Send out an SOS and see who/what resources are available. You could have saved the tranny if you didn't try and drive two hours back.

Sorry to hear about the truck. Youre in good hands with Truck Shop. Theyve done most of the work and maintenance on 2 of my vehicles. Ask them their opinion on used vs new trans. Theyve never recommended anything I didnt need.
