    Make sure if you mount your antenna to your camper (fiberglass non-conductive) that you account for a ground plane. Its an easy mistake to make.

    Magnetic antenna on your roof would be cheap, simple, removable and automatically take care of a ground plane issue.

    That's what I have it shoots out the slider window and mounts to the roof works great and my window still shuts

    I was thinking of putting a whip mount on the tailgate latch. I knew I needed a ground so I wasn't gonna put it on my camper, and for some reason magnetic mounts just never appealed to me

    That works too it's just pretty much permanent without needing tools to take it off I do like the tail gate mounts they look bad ass

    With the way I'm doing it I should be able to take off the antenna but keep the mount on, which isn't too bad of a compromise. But yeah, it should look pretty cool!

    I just makes it easier to program multiple frequencies into the radio. You can share repeater info easier to. Just load them on a computer, plug it into your radio & youre done.
