They're pretty much the only hotel I stay in when I travel on business. Even in areas that weren't that great, they tend to be well kept up and clean. And free beer is always a bonus!

Good idea. I would do it but I know my parents probably wouldn't be interested so I'll have to see if we have time.

    Thanks

My dad liked that residence in place except it's kind of far away from everything. This is what he sent me "Is there anything more DOWNTOWN or MARINA or GASLAMP that also has what we are looking for – free parking, free breakfast, free internet?"

There are three more Residence Inns in San Diego. One in Kearney Mesa (gets you about 5 miles closer to downtown)
    http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/sankm-residence-inn-san-diego-central/

Free breakfast, free parking & M-Th social events. I can't tell from the site if the internet is free but I believe it is.

There's one in Hotel Circle (about 10 miles closer to downtown)
    http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/sanhc-residence-inn-san-diego-mission-valley/
Free internet. Parking $10/day. free breakfast and social hour events (M-Th). Which is pretty close.

There's one Downtown close to the USS Midway:
    http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/sanph-residence-inn-san-diego-downtown/

Free internet. Don't know about the breakfast or social hours. Parking is $12/day. Unfortunately I don't think you'll find much in the way of free parking downtown. And the rooms get more expensive as you get closer to downtown. (about $40/night more vs the Kearny Mesa Marriott).

I'd call the hotels to see if they offer the missing pieces. I don't think I've stayed at a Marriott that didn't offer free internet with the exception of the Waikiki Marriott in Hawaii.

That's a really good idea. That's the kind of stuff my mom loves. She really enjoys walking around St. Augustine with the shops.

    Thanks!!!

    So Cal
3 days is not a lot of time.
In my opinion downtown is where you want to be, stay away from hotel circle.
The San Diego Marriott and Omni have specials for just over 100 bucks many weekends (travelzoo.com or hotels.com) . They are both just a few steps from the trolley, these property's are a few miles away from some of San Diego's main attractions, including the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Mission Beach and the Gaslamp Quarter.
Torrey Pines is a nice place to play golf or just visit.
If you go to the beach La Jolla to Carlsbad are all clean/fun beaches, don't forget the wet suit.
Whatever you do you are going to LOVE it. Have a great time.

    Thanks man.

Yeah I know it's not very long but my parents don't want to miss too much work and I can't miss too much school. I'll probably be going again in the summer with my uncle for 10 days.
