Sand in the tank, headlights, or electrical issues, the saga continues for the 4th time? (10/9/18)

Well I did get sent to the middle east... Every time I hit the dirt, I'm pounding sand hahaha

Any chance that the CPS sensor could be part of the problem?

 

I dunno but it's worth a shot...

The main problem is this isn't an issue that presents itself after dust/sand/dirt. This is an issue after the engine bay gets wet. Direct correlation to washing/spraying under the hood or spraying from underneath and cleaning the chassis. I went to Pismo and literally waited a week, multiple tanks of gas, stop and go Cali traffic etc. The minute I wash my truck it was done.

So I don't by this sand in the tank BS.

 

The radio screws up when it rains... But no engine faults. The dealer usually drops the tank, blames me for abusing the truck, and after a while it works... Probably because it dries out. I've waited a few days before I've had it towed, including fans, 100* sunlight etc to dry out the engine bay, nothing I do works.

 

radio screwing up is an update. Sounds like if you're in the CPS recall, this could all be related to that. What a nightmare.

 

I hate to be that guy, but here's a thought: maybe dont open your hood and aggressively power wash the engine bay! I've never done this to any of my vehicles. Or maybe put it on low pressure rinse setting.

 

Sand does not fucking dissolve...............without atomic persuasion, and even then it melts and turns into glass. How does this not meet lemon law guidelines if they've tried to RECTIFY this situation 5 times? GLW deployment and your future fully functional vehicle.

 

I also live on the coast so I also wash the truck weekly. I do not spray any water under the hood / into the engine bay. I do occasionally wipe under the hood with a wet rag--years ago I was advised not to pressure wash the engine bay due to electrical problems. I hope you get to the root of this and / or a new vehicle.

 

It's all up to date, I've installed all current updates. It's done it since I bought it. But I can't replicate it because until this past winter it never freaking rains in Cali

 

Spend a week in the NE--been raining for 2 months 50F.

 

Why do you need these? Stock headlights work just fine.

 

Same reason the tens of thousands of other kits they've sold to Tacoma owners...

I took the stock lights out on the beach and literally couldn't see anything. I felt blind.

Run these things down a dark road, a misty beach, and you can see clear as day.

Additionally I am literally the only one in TRS history who has ever had this issue. I don't think the lights are causing my injector circuits to fail lol . Besides, the problem didn't correct itself like the dealer claimed when the lights are unplugged.

 

Well you'll never guess... Went to the local quarter squirt as I haven't washed my truck in months!


And now.im.stuck on the side of the road....

 

Dude that is terrible. So what are you going to do now? Obvious the dealer is not much help.

After reading some of this, I don't think there is any correlation between sand in the tank and no start after washing. There is no easily explainable way that sand (of any significant quantity) can find its way into a sealed fuel system. Especially since the fuel system was already replaced. My thought is someone is putting sand in your tank. Neighbor kid pranks? Pissed off Ex? Get a key lock for your tank. That is one issue. The other is that you are getting the engine wet when washing the truck. Stop doing that.

 

We need video of you washing your truck. You have to be doing something wrong. Do you straight up stick the wash wand in the fuel pipe? Jeepers.

 

I'm starting to think this is the Tacomaworld version of Munchausen syndrome by proxy.
