Hmmm. I think you should arrange for a ride to work and call the dealer to have it towed. Maybe water got into something and it won't dry out.

For $15 (I think) you can get online access to the Toyota diagnostic information for a couple days and maybe sort it out with a lot of effort. It sounds like this is a tricky one. Like I said, I would call the dealer and have it towed.

I think that wave tossed up an old cannon from a pirate ship and bashed your fuel line. That's why it's having such a hard time regulating fuel pressure. (Open to better theories!)

If you hear a loud humming from your TPS butterfly valve motor at the intake, I would suspect a bad TPS motor which is causing all these other codes to trip up as a result. Toyota tends to default their VSC program to power off once a check engine light issue is detected, why the mentality is beyond me. Nevertheless, try taking it to the dealer and let them mess with it. If they refuse to, it looks like you may have a somewhat pricey part bill on your hands.

I'm betting some water got sucked up into the intake. Had it happen to me in my last vehicle (scion) during a huge downpour and my engine went into limp mode. Once eveything dried out and the car sat for a bit (couple hours) everything was normal again.

TPS codes are resolved. Now it's just the fuel pressure and injection codes with lean codes on both banks.

Intake and filter/ throttle body are completely dry. First thing I checked lol

I just had a P0171 'System Too Lean Bank 1' code yesterday, Toyota told me my MAF sensor was bad.

Yea... wasn't there a guy on here who used his truck to cross some shallow river bed and eventually used crawl control to get himself "unstuck" from the silt?

Sometimes these issues can be caused just as easily from a defective or out of spec tiny part from a 3rd party vendor. IE like a rubber seal, or grommet, etc...

    Keep us updated OP.

Trucks still out of commission. It's rough.

Still the same slew of codes, all fuses checked out

At this point the dealer would be replacing parts to see what fixed it.

Subbed for out come, seems to me if a wiring harness is getting wet, anything could be effected. I'v had real good luck with LPS1, a water and rust inhibitor, on my 4 wheelers that I ride under water. Just spray on and leave it there, works wonderfully.

How hard did you spray the engine? Each manual with every vehicle I've owner has said not to power wash the engine bay. I know you were trying to repeat the problem, but it might have caused more stuff to happen.

You know... I normally never really spray down an engine bay. I've done it on my old bronco and the 06 Ranger a few times after being really submerged or stuck, this was more of a spray down of the radiator and fan shroud areas and the underneath of the hood to get sand and salt out. I didn't directly target electronics and the engine has that plastic cover of it so it should of protected most of it.

I think what did the damage is I sprayed the heck out of the undercarriage and control arms/bushings and control arms.... It over sprayed into the engine.

Either way Toyota has my truck, said they'll do my 5k service and look into the issues. Corporate is concerned and tried to contact me but I was working. Service manager said its covered under warranty (before they even know what's wrong.) Should be good.

I'm going to guess, water in the DI relay box.

Relays and such are completely dry. I checked that immediately lol. This is a wiring harness/ injector connection issue. The codes that popped are circuit codes that lead to either breaks, or shorts in wiring. Aka the injector harness is not water tight

Maybe it is not water related at all, and something just happened to fail when you were on the beach in the water. I have hosed my engine compartment down a few times now and no issues.

    Good luck!

That could be it too! I really hope so, because you SHOULD be able to get an engine wet without it failing. I could understand if I pressure washed the fuse and relay panels or the ECM lol

I drive in torrential rains in the summer down here in Florida, torrential. Driving on the hi-way, hitting standing water at speed with hundreds of other cars spitting water into the air, I'v never had a problem like yours. Should be able to take a complete wetting and survive.

Dealer just called. Confirmed that the codes I pulled were "all injector codes". Like I told him. 4/6 of the injectors are 'failed'. They are currently looking for a short in the system, and the next step is the ECU but they are talking with corporate and asking if they can hold my truck another day.

Sounds to me like my truck either had a predisposed wiring issue, or water/sand/salt got somewhere were it shouldn't have some how.

Either way they are going to fix it under full warranty (so far) and hopefully I don't have any more issues.

I did express that I am concerned/surprised that a truck marketed for off roading and can be seen romping through mud is disabled by small amounts of water. It'd be completely different if I ran through 2-3 feet or more of water, but I didn't lol.
