Hi all! I looked around but wasn't able to find anything and wanted to see if anyone had done anything similar. I have a 2019 MGM SR5 and like the look of the TRDOF black fender flares. I would buy OEM but at almost 600$ for the set, I'm looking for another solution. I've heard PlastiDip them but I feel like that'll rub off in the car wash so I was wondering if anyone had removed the paint of their fender flares? I have a buddy who has a sandblaster and was wondering if that might give me the same finish at the Off Road.

Depending on the sand blaster, that could ruin them. I've only ever used one on metal parts though.

I’m no auto body guy, but I think a sandblaster would rip em to shreds. Why not sand them?

I don't know if they are going to be the textured black under the paint. I guess you'll find out.
I would not sandblast them, and sanding them is going to be tricky to get just the paint and not the plastic.
Might recommend aircraft stripper but test it on the back first to make sure it doesn't eat the plastic.

Check on the b/s/t sub and see if you can find someone who wants to trade.

Try plasti spray in the can. Trick is several light coats to build up the thickness and adhesion. Worse (worst?) thing that happens is it scratches in a car wash and you peel them off.

I would not recommend a drive thru car wash with brushes anyway.

A "mediablaster" can use multiple media. For example "crushed walnut shells" is used on sensitive surfaces.

Can you not rough up the paint with some sandpaper and the rattle can them?

    Oh look, another mod....
You should not sand blast plastic fender flares. That's what your painted fender flares are: Plastic. As others have said, just plasti dip them. Ironically, I have a TRD OR and had my black plastic fender flares painted.
