Still no reslolution.. More googling I have found that Class D amplifiers are extremely RF dirty... This would be fine for the normal person because CB radios aren't used generally by the Boom Boom crew.. The articles I have read say that Class D amplifiers are "digital" and use PWM to amplify the audio signal, which is then filtered to a suitable level.. Unfortunately this isn't suitable for some RF applications.. The RF interference is then blasted out using the wire to the speaker as an antenna.. I found one suggesstion to put ferrite cores on the speaker wires.. We'll see if that helps, otherwise I think I will just ditch my CB.

Don't forget doggo and previous owner to that list. What about switching to the old school non digital amps. They are bigger and more power hungry but do they cause the same noise? Sucks because the digital amp technology is really awesome with how small they are getting them and not having to run yuge power cables and what not to them.

 

That would probably work but I didn't buy one of those..

Got this chinsy metal pieces off like pie with the air chisel and Jason did a good job on the new TC alignment cam tabs! Even got some beach time in! Alignment set for tomorrow morning.

Some good news:

Now the bad:
The o-ring is useless. These are Home Depot and harbor freight universal quick connects. Also I put a drop of oil in the connector to help keep the seal in the coupler happy. You can see how effective the old cover was, it just jumps off and hangs there.

And the ugly:
So what we have here is a failure to current rate a connector supplied..? The wire is only hot/melting the first couple inches around the quick connect.


Hmm specs say max amp draw 30amps.. I guess it was hitting 29.99amps

 

Got an amp clamp coming Friday to check out what's going on with this and then the new connectors going on it.

A little melty melty and some plastic epoxy and it'll be good as new, or a good replacement until I fix my light. Thanks @EricL I think it should be kept in TW as a hand-me-down for people that need a temp taillight.
