Friend of ours visiting in new Rav4 Hybrid noticed what I thought was paint
splatter on the hood - turns out to be sap. Pretty nasty appears to be baked on,
possibly beyond the point of no return... it's fking everywhere too.

Any idea what to use to get this stuff off?

If you get a good ceramic glass finish that sap would just wash off with no damage....same for baked on bird poop.

That'll attract mice like no tomorrow, and sap will be the least of your issues.

Oof. There are a variety of sap removers online. Other members are recommending cheaper DIY options which may work too. Claybar may help once the larger pieces have been removed

There a many things that can get it off, but the effortless way is to just let it sit. In wet weather, it will eventually dissolve and go away.

Forget everything you just read, use a heat gun or a hair drier. Heat it for about 30 seconds or until it warms up some and have a micro fiber rag with some break cleaner ready. Once the sap is warm spray the ray and rub the sap away. I have used this trick many times on cars with high dollar Ceramic coatings that are supposed to prevent this from happening. You just want to soften up the sap then the break cleaner will break it down and wipe away.

If you don't have a couple of bottles of this stuff around to remove tar, sap, paint residue and light scratches, you are truly missing out.

Sure can: I've used this for years - not a great wax but it is awesome for removing bugs, tar, sap, and even paint residue when people rub your bumpre or open their doors into yours. It will also take out light scratches. No sh*t. I always have a few bottles at the house and carry a small one with me on trips in my black '96 Z3.

I have used it before and bought some about 15 years ago. It's not that bad.
