Have any of you gents here invested a lot of money into your Tacoma only to be disappointed? I recently just put a small left/leveling kit on my 2011 DCSB. At first I was in love with it, and now I have come to not liking it. I almost feel guilty about it. I have some Rock star rims on it that I now find extremely ugly. I guess its just buyers remorse. Has anybody else gone through this?

Just sold my Tacoma but experienced similar stage, I did the 5100's all around set at highest level, and put some wheel spacers on and big Duratracs, cool for about a month until I really missed the factory ride and quietness. If I could do it again with a tacoma, I'd keep a 2" level up front, leave the rear alone, much less aggressive tire and keep it like that. Just my 2 cents

Haha. Rockstars are so overused, even diesel guys run them. Research the hell out of whatever you are doing to your truck. It also sounds like you got a spacer lift to level. Get a set of shocks to do that and you won't have the crappy ride anymore.

I got some billy 5100's all the way around. I put a top spacer on my front to level it out. I bought the tires/rims on Craigslist because they were such a good price. I wanted the tires more than anything else. They were brand new Nitto Terra Grapplers and the rims just came with them. I definitely wish I had done more research.

I know lots of guys who put lifts and big tires only to find it makes daily driving and mall crawling less fun...I was out camping this weekend and did find crawling up some fairly nasty mountain roads with stock suspension with rear leaf TSP and Cooper AT3 tires in the 265/75R16 size. 4low in 1st gives decent control.

You could just take those things back off and sell them, right? Get back some of the money spent. If this is your daily driver then it may be best to just stick with cosmetic modifications.

I don't think there are many who mod their vehicle and then find a happy place for a long time. Some times it's a shorter honeymoon phase than others, though.

I had $14k in mods in my last car which I had for about 2 years, was in a national car club with tens of thousands of members disbursed through hundreds of chapters, attended shows and cruises, etc,. I loved it for a while, then woke up one day and drove it to a local dealer and sold it to them just to get rid of it. I delivered it as it sat, including all the stereo and suspension equipment I could've easily sold (and should have). They stuck it in their show room with a much higher price than what they wanted for it and it went about 2 months before I saw it on the road locally with new DMV plates, still the same as it was.

But modding in itself is a constant evolution. You might get everything EXACTLY where you want it, but parts wear out and/or something else comes along that offers more, will enhance your vehicle more, whatever, and then you go with that and the cycle will eventually repeat.

You're in a normal situation, your happy period just ended much quicker than I would figure most do.

At the very least, the Rockstar wheels should be an easy sell if you decide to replace them.

I think that happens to a lot of people through out life. Sometimes we really want something, we get it. After so long it's not the same feeling that it was when it first happens. It's normal for a person to have "buyers remorse" sort of speak.

When I was in my early to mid 20's I wanted a new car every year. I would just get bored and want something different. Now that I have my Tacoma, I am very happy. It's something I've always wanted and wanted nothing else.
