Satoshi, Grillcraft. What's the difference?

Exactly?

I've been contemplating doing a Satoshi or similar grill w/ the FJ Toyota badge for that 'old school' look.

I'm just trying to figure out what the real difference is between a Satoshi grill and the Grillcraft or similar inserts.

Also, I've found complete factory grills, painted to match even, for around $200. I'm considering buying a replacement grill to do this and keeping the factory grill to go back to stock if needed/wanted. Anything to watch out for? It looks like you get the entire grill unit. I.e. the surround, painted, and the black inner grill.

 

Satoshi is just referring to the grille mesh being recessed from the grille surround. Whereas the GrillCraft sits flush with the surround.

I think most people buy OEM color-matched replacements from camelback toyota because they offer a very competitive price (something like $180 or so). OEM grilles include the entire grille assembly but lack the Toyota emblem that goes in the center as far as I know.

EDIT: camelback link, and their pics show the Toyota emblem in the center so I guess it is included.

The biggest difference is the satoshi grill is a completely custom made grill. Either you have to build the grill or buy it from someone like homertaco.

A grill craft grill is a manufactured grill insert.

 

This is an interesting question. I know what the Grillcraft Co is & I know what a Satoshi grill is.
But who/what is Satoshi? Is Satoshi a man? A Japanese custom car designer? There's nothing online except Satoshi Nakamoto the bitcoin guy/group and Tacoma World references. The word Satoshi grill had to have come from somewhere. ???
